President George W. Bush welcomed Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki at an official state welcoming ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington today. He hosted a state dinner for Kibaki later in the day, the first such dinner for an African head of State since President Bush took power.

Besides strength and wisdom, I include peace and discernment.

Oh, ok. Do you know where you're staying in Monterey? Do you know the area?

You know what amazes me when they do this stuff. Always .. with the Clintons .. we had pictures up the wazoooo of the 2 of them. However, with our wonderful couple .. all we see is the entertainment.
Isn't it great to have a President who is fixed on himself. {sigh}

That didn't come out right--it was cool how you pinged me to the story, and the story looks very interesting (I haven't read it yet but will when I post this). Thanks for helping me! This is so fun!

**No, I think, if you don't like the way she dresses you shouldn't blame "the designers"! She dresses the way she does 'cause that's what SHE likes. (Including the bows.) And, in my opinion, she LOOKS JUST FINE. **
I'm in total agreement with you. We're an army of two. LOL

I find it even more interesting .. because he's married.

What is it with Laura's designers and the bows at the waists of her dresses!? They cut her off right in the middle and don't do anything for her figure! Without the bow that dress would just be stunning! Love that twisted freshwater pearl necklace, though!

Yeah, and you could actually EAT at the State Dinner, and not worry whether you would bloat at the waistline and have it show! ;-) NOT that I have that trouble or anything ;-)

That's it. I just sort of picked one at random. But that's how a ping works. You might want to keep your eyes out for the ping lists. There are several.
Ragtime Cowgirl has a great one with all positive news on our awesome military's accomplishments in Iraq and Afghanistan (and occasionally some other topics), but always GOOD news. Check it out and if you are interested she would be happy to add you to the list.
Post number 8 of this link is a ping post for her ping list:

Yes, I do feel the forces of evil all around. Not to be overly dramatic, but our society is just getting more and more ungodly every single day. And so many, many people are absolutely blind to it. Very scary. The pres. looked so serious in some of the pictures today, and he's so intense about getting his message across . . . I'm sure there's much more going on, both in this nation and throughout the world, that we do not know about but he does.
I'm reading the book "Soon" by LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins--it's the prelude to the Left Behind books--(it is OK to mention books when I post, isn't it?) and in this book religion has been completely outlawed. The disturbing part is that this is gradually happening, with the 10 Commandments being removed from the courthouse, the "anything goes" attitude of society, etc.
I feel priviledged to lift up the President, First Lady, and administration in prayer. I'm so thankful that we have that tool and can use it and talk about it here, and know that God above hears us and He knows his plan for us, even when it seems like chaos today.

Wow! I have been awakened at 430 and just immediately start praying. All I see is our first couple's face. I don't sense anything they are struggling with .. just a pressure I can't explain.
I think you are on the right track about what's going on .. "the dark side is really pounding on the gates of all we hold dear". I don't think it's going to get better any day soon. I truly believe the election in 2004 is going to be a BIG turning point in America. The next year will be awful .. but then .. in the morning ..VICTORY!!

***The designer wanted to snug in her waist with the bow-my guess.***
You're close, but I've had another thought for some time about "the" bows.
It doesn't show up too much in today's pictures, but it does in some of the past ones. Laura is just a mite short waisted. Her designers do a GREAT job hiding it in most outfits.
So, if you look REAL closely at tonight's pictures, you'll see that the bow AND the waist band is placed just slightly below her natural waistline. The bow then brings the eye downward and her waistline appears longer.
It's more noticeable in pictures taken of her from a little distance where you don't notice the bow so much. It's very clever of her designers. (I also hate bows, though, so I'm glad this one is small.)
Take a look at the 2nd last picture in post 6, and you'll see that the waist BAND is just slightly on her hips, very, very slightly, but it makes a difference in the overall look.
