President George W. Bush welcomed Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki at an official state welcoming ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington today. He hosted a state dinner for Kibaki later in the day, the first such dinner for an African head of State since President Bush took power.

Enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!

Thank you for your prayers, prairie. He's being protected, for sure. Mortar fire and IED's blowing up nearby. God's shield is over him.

Good night! (This time I mean it!)

Beautiful pictures! But I disagree. I think the next-to-the-last is the best. :-)

Thanks for all the great pics. A State Dinner is a great occasion for us to enjoy on the Dose. Wish the pres. would have more. Laura is so classic, that simple designs look the best on her. No white necklace and no bow would be much better. Interesting guest list. Condi's guest is interesting. NFL Commissioner is her dream job. After she straightens out Iraq and the rest of the world. Go Condi!

"Laura Bush is definately one of the most beautiful first ladies we have ever had"

You are sooooooooooooo correct! Like the president, she is even more beautiful in person -- 'goodness' simply radiates from every fiber of her being!

Do You remember, is this the same gentleman that Condi took to the last state dinner?

Condoleezza Rice, national security adviser, and Gene A. Washington, NFL director of football operations

I continue to pray for you and Eric daily!

I'm hope he gets a few chuckles from his most recent package (which he should get within the week) -- my daughter helped pick out some FUN Halloween stuff!

I'm not sure -- I do know that over the years she's 'dated' several of professional football players. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm: I wonder if she will ever make the time for a husband?!

Thank you for these magnificent photos. The one you chose for the #1 pic is so beautiful, our President looks stately and very handsome, but Laura....she looks exquisite.

As for the bow-I don't mind it. I usually do mind bows, anywhere, but on this dress I understand why it is there-and the neckline, color and especially the skirt are outstanding. The designer wanted to snug in her waist with the bow-my guess.

At any rate-I watched the brief press conferance after the President's mtg with the Kenyan prez-what a GOOD PRESS CONFERANCE it was. Our leader was in control, forthright and generous. (When deflecting a question to the Kenyan prez about his coming here to beg for monetary help-our President said that WE need help from Kenya-in fighting terrorism-and are getting it in full measure. I LOVE W, so much it almost hurts!)

And I loved the Kenyan president. He was just a gem at the press conferance. Nobody's fool-he handled himself with great dignity, humor and just the right amount of strength

I love to lift our President up in prayer. And find myself drawn to do it with greater fervor once again. Feeling as if the dark side is really pounding on the gates of all we hold dear, lately. With a desparation I don't ever remember in my lifetime. Wonder if anyone else is sensing the same?

You know, I can't say 100% but that name and title does ring a bell. You may well be right

**I wish somebody would take note of that and quit making her wear a sash. **

Laura obviously prefers the bows or she would request them removed...imo. She isn't beholden to anyone elses opinion of her dresses. I admire that.

The color of her dress is beautiful..one of my favorite.

question to the Kenyan prez about his coming here to beg for monetary help

Holy mackeral, what media idiot tried to ask that!? Nevermind, I don't really want to know....sheesh!

I pray practically every night for our CIC and his administration. The Dems are acting like cornered animals. Very dangerous.

I've just finished enjoying the State Dinner festivities on C-Span, and it was fabulous! From the behind-the-scenes work involved to the dinner and to the enterainment, it was a class act..........especially with our President and First Lady, both looking gorgeous.

Kenyon President Kabuki and his entourage seemed genuinely impressed and appreciative of the welcome they were given.

Schucks-I missed it! Great report tho....I am glad the Kenyans present seemed to enjoy this honor. I am so glad our President and team decided to give this elected (HURRAH) Kenyan president and his wife this special occasion.

How did they ever do it without celebrities of the hollywood caliber there? Billy klinton and his wife-from day one (Markie post and the sick psychotic linda bloodsworth tomatoheadsucker jumping up and down on the Lincoln bed in our Lincoln bedroom is one shot I will never forget-I WAS SO DISGUSTED-PUKE CITY!) to their state dinners never gave a party without starlets etc hovering on the sidelines. Pathetic. The klintons have no concept of real class, only primal drive to succeed at whatever cost.

It is a testament to our nation and its foundations that we survived the klinton filth machine for eight gruesome years!

Think it was a reporter from Kenya that actually asked the question-probably thought it was brave, showed independence and would gain him an immediate in with the pathetic American individuals who grovel and trade their dignity in order to keep their jobs under they liberal bosses.

You know the ones-the ones that FAIL everyday to TELL the American people exactly what marvels our troops are performing in Iraq!

Last Friday, the President signed a proclamation endorsing the "Marriage Protection Week" to be held October 12-18.

[Contrary to the machinations of certain Freepers, the President continues to support conservative CHRISTIAN policies/positions!]

However, the article featuring this proclamation reflects the EVIL that we and this President face as we attempt to reclaim our culture!

Amen to everything you said......Surelyk, C-Span will repeat it. It was so good that I'd gladly watch it again. (Laura looked lovely...with the bow's being the same color as the dress, the monochromatic look was not as startling as her previous outfits imo.)
