Rush just said that contrary to many of the comments here, he could not address the drug assertions until cleared to do so by his lawyer. He reiterated "trust me," and strongly implied he could deny everything, but was prohibited from talking about it at all by his attorney.

pillory the opposition and forgive your fellow ideologues , no matter what.Forgive him for what, exactly? Being accused by the National Enquirer? It's as possible that he is guilty of what the NE accuses him of as that he's not.

It's the whole shoot the messenger syndrome. Just out of curiosity, did people refer to the Enquirer as the "Liberal media" when it exposed Clinton's disgraceful shenanigans...?A lot of people around here are no better than Bill and Hillary and their gang of thugs when it comes to protecting one of their own. Attack the messenger and the sourses of the information. Attack, attack, attack.
To: unsycophant
You are correct, sir!

When they get confirmation that no charges will be filed Rush will tell allI agree with you on this point. Rush is very aware of what a hypocrite he would be if he did not tell all including details that may emerge later.
I am sure he is either confirming if the State of Attorney is or going to file any charges and also as another astute Freeper suggested, Rush needs to "sweep" the whole PB mansion because who knows what the maid could have planted?
Rush sounds like he is at the top of his game today and if the charges are as serious as have been written, anyone would be able to sense trouble in his voice and delivery, even Rush would stumble a bit,
I still think that in the end he will come out and say, yes, he was addicted to pills, (we are all human) but not to the degree that has been reported. He will fully "disclose" and the contrast between the way he handles allegations and that of many of his political opponents will show a glaring difference.
Remember it is not so much about the man with failings, but how he conducts himself after he realizes his failings

If, as we both suspect, he isn't talking about the drugs because of what his lawyers have advised him, I wish he would be honest enough at least to say that clearly. If there is a criminal probe he might be being asked to keep quiet by the authorities until they complete their investigation. If there is not, he is right to say absolutely nothing - even about legal advise - that might encourage one.
Shalom.

<< in the past couple I've fallen off >> I guessed this by your remarks, and I understand.
Rush is NOT a politician, he's an entertainer. The left would like to hold him to the same standards that we held Clinton to, or Marion Berry, or even a federal employee like Linda Tripp.
The left will beat us up no matter what. They've been at it for a long time, and they fight dirty. I refuse to cooperate with them in any way, and that includes going after someone like Rush. You know they are dying to see him fall, because it would hurt our side.
One way you neutralize them is to refuse to give them the power to defeat you, and that in part means standing together. If you kwim.
Last week the Enquirer was about Rush. Their new front page is devoted to Schwarzenegger. What a coincidence.
To: hazelmotes
Sigh... Not only are you serious, you have reproduced. Even worse, there are now four more with potentially the same genetic code that could hold and spout the same vacuous inanity. I am losing hope.

Funny, but this was all over the Drudge Report the night before Philly. So how did he just hear it on the plane. Unless they went up the night before.
BTW, the editor of the Limbaugh Letter quit posting here shortly after Drudge broke.

I've been a listener off and on over the years. In the 80's when Rush began I was still a kid. It's not that I can't surmise what Rush must have said about Clinton's hiring of attorneys in the Paula Jones matter. I'm simply talking today about what I think, not what Rush thought seven years ago. Or whenever it was.

I'm not a fan out Rush's, and I really hope that all of you who are aren't disappointed when the facts come out. When he finally admits to it, I'm wondering what sort of a reaction there will be.
Possible reactions:
- "That wasn't Rush. That must be an imposter."
- "Crap, he admitted it! Those pills have really gone to his head!"
- "I will never listen to Rush again."
- "Yes - but he didn't inhale."
- "Some of those pills were probably for his elderly sick great-grandmother - even though he hasn't got an elderly sick great-grandmother."
- "We feel his pain."
- "I still don't believe it. The Liberals made him say that."
- "Let's start a prayer thread."

We're suppose to be BETTER than that. But we're not. Hope you understand that.
I applaud your consistancy, but republicans/conservatives at large are no better than liberals/dems when it comes to tough issues when it comes to our own.
I don't suggest we say "the hell with Rush" but to ignore what probably has some truth to it is just as bad as the Clinton supporters from late 1991 on.
To: hazelmotes
Of course he's in self-preservation mode! Would you prefer that he be in self-destruct mode?
The facts will come out. Be patient.

And if he says he did nothing what will YOU say?
Even DUers have more faith in Rush that you do!
To: jjbrouwer
Well, now you're put me in quite the quandry.
What to do; what to do.
Do I agree with you and have Todd start a thread?
Or do I disagree with you and have Todd start a thread?
:-)

Don't you understand that what Rush said seven years ago IS relevant? All of us demanded truthfulness and non-evasiveness from the Clintons; he was our "voice" out there, so they say. And by "they," I mean people on FR and people in the media.
Every word he has said since the day he took that microphone is going to come back to haunt him.
