Rush: Can't say anything until cleared by lawyer
Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 10/6/03 | LS

Posted on 10/06/2003 9:14:43 AM PDT by LS

Rush just said that contrary to many of the comments here, he could not address the drug assertions until cleared to do so by his lawyer. He reiterated "trust me," and strongly implied he could deny everything, but was prohibited from talking about it at all by his attorney.

The Rats have made it a cottage industry to abuse drugs and alcohol. So do athletes. So do Hollywood stars. Hasn't hurt their careers any.

Only those who are in a "CONSTANT PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH" and belittle other drug users and call for the imprisonment of drug users. Their careers are screwed,,but come to think of it, I can't think of any who said those things.

"Man Wants to Question Parrot in Court"

The parrot will probably be more forthcoming than Limbaugh.

So what? Are you just a little too anxious to condemn our Rush?

Talk about a good-weather supporter.

Sorry all of this is not unfolding on your timetable - but - hey - it is Rush's life - not yours.

Just go back to your computer and support some other perfect talk show host. There are many here that will support Rush because we have seen how he handles his life.

Not speaking to the press is the best thing that anyone can do: If you do go to the press, I perfectly understand why people read from prepared statements!

Exactly correct. Anyone who has had any contact with the media knows how they can twist anything you say completely backwards...and then, just like the case you cite, pretend they did nothing wrong.

Taking one of your husband's prescribed painkillers for dental work you had on Friday, that began bothering you on Saturday when all the Novocaine wore off could be construed by a prosecutor as "illegally using painkillers" by a prosecutor.

Yep, and they would be technically correct. But they would also be forced to tell the story as you have described it and then the jury could make up thier mind.

I don't know if he said that or not. I don't listen to him often enough to know.

What I do know is that allegations have been made which have not been proven or admitted yet.

It's a good idea, when dealing with someone's reputation, to wait until the charges are proven before jumping to any conclusions. :-)

Fact is, he's not obligated to deny rumors that have only been published in the National Enquirer, period.

If he went away, we'd suffer but survive and look for someone else to fill that void.

Finally, if you believe that people must be guilty simply because they won't deny they are---then you are exactly the kind of person who CAN be neutralized by the left, and will eat out of their hand.

I don't know what Rush said about Clinton with regard to Paula Jones. I didn't say Clinton shouldn't have representation, and I'm not saying Rush shouldn't have representation. If you want to say that Rush shouldn't have representation at this point, go right ahead. I think you're wrong.

I suggest we support this man who has done so much for conservatism.

The charges, if true, will do a lot for conservatism.

Rush: Can't say anything until cleared by lawyer

Not even that he didn't do it? Sorry, I was born at night, but it wasn't last night.

To date, I don't recall hearing even a charge, merely a story in a less-than-generally credible tabloid. Has the local D.A. or U.S. Attorney filed yet? Right, didn't think so.

I didn't say anything close to that.

I merely wandered why, when he already had a bank of attorneys who spoke out for him last week, that he felt the need to hire Roy Black.

And if you don't know what Rush had to say about the accusations against Clinton, et al., you haven't been listening very long.

What I want to know is why he felt the need to hire a CRIMINAL attorney -- and such a sleazy one at that.

Howlin, I'm really surprised at your comments. You've always struck me as rational, why are you so accepting of this story?

I don't know how many ways there are to conduct a pill scam. But if Rush gave her cash and his Rx to fill, who knows what she may have done with it?

If someone splashed all over the papers that you had committed a crime, investgators were being coy about whether or not you were going to be charged, are you telling me you WOULDN'T hire a criminal attorney? Innocent, would you go like a lamb to slaughter with a business atty?

If you were a media figure, wouldn't you find one who is used to and savvy about media coverage?

And actually, who has confirmed that Rush has even hired Black? As far as I know neither Rush nor Black have made any statement confirming that.

It is obvious that he had a problem with pain medication. If this was all total BS he would have said so. Rumor is that he has hired Roy Black the Attorney who helped William Kennedy Smith skate the rape charge. When they get confirmation that no charges will be filed Rush will tell all. I would hope it gives him and other conservatives a new point of view on the question of legalized drugs.

If the authorities don't choose to ever make a move, he'll never tell us what is going on with all this noise?

In that case, it would really not be any of our business.

Anyone -- anyone -- who is in the position that Rush finds himself in, regardless of whether he or she is guilty or innocent of anything, would be stupid to comment publicly on the matter without his attorney's approval.

The speculation, unfortunately, will continue, but it will never change the fact that Rush is doing the only wise thing.

I find it difficult to imagine, how an INNOCENT man can be impacted by ANYTHING he may say about "FALSE" charges against him....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You don't have to imagine if you watched CNN last week. They took a quote from Rush's radio show from 2 yrs ago when he was talking about all the drugs his Doctors had him on trying to stop his hearing loss. They made it sound like he was a drug addict!

I suggest we support this man who has done so much for conservatism.

Words of wisdom.

Even if the allegations are 'true', Rush is guilty of hypocrisy, at worst. Surely, no one can reasonably consider him a criminal for stepping around unreasonable drug regulations.

I daresay all of us have been hypocritical occasionally, even those of us who strive to meet a high standard of personal ethics.

Rush should be supported by all conservatives - his years of stalwart service deserve no less.
