McClintock Calls on Schwarzenegger to Resign If Charges Prove True

State Senator Tom McClintock called on Arnold Schwarzenegger to withdraw from the race for governor if allegations of improper sexual advances prove to be true.

Asked by reporters what he would tell Schwarzenegger, McClintock said, "If those allegations are true, you should drop out of the race."

McClintock was careful not to condemn Schwarzenegger out of hand, but made his feelings on the issue clear. "If the allegations are true, and again coming as late as they are, I believe they need to be treated with great skepticism, that conduct is reprehensible," he said.

He went on to tell reporters that if the charges are proven, Schwarzenegger does not deserve to occupy the governor's office. "As the father of a 13-year-old daughter, I would have a great deal of trouble accepting that that kind of conduct has been elevated to the highest office in the state," he said.

The potential scandal hovering over Schwarzenegger could provide an unexpected boost for McClintock's campaign. The conservative state senator is current lagging well behind both Schwarzenegger and Democrat Cruz Bustamante in the polls.

...please tell me why the Left is absolutely beside itself by in large telling us he's Satan? And his election would be the worst thing ever for California?

Because they are in jeopardy of losing their power to a different band of socialists.

That was easy...

But you don't count anyway and would be a lost cause.

You already have one of those bogus founding father names suggesting you are a .0003% Libertarian person.

Means if that is so, you are on the fringe anyway.

That's exactly right bro! The difference between teh R's and the D's today is about as much difference as between the Nazis and the Communists (both of these were socialist also).

But, for me, the difference between McClintock and Ahh-nold is earth-shattering. It is the TOTAL difference between the Christian worldview and the secular-humanist worldview. I am convinced that MANY of the R's who suppport Ahh-nold have his same worldview - secular-humanist - people are attracted to other people who share their same worldview. Thus, the RINOs are attracted to him like moths to a lamp, and I am attracted to Tom M. for the same reason.

Birds of a feather flock together! heh.

I will also make an empty "feel good" gesture then and not vote for any Presidential candidate.

No, voting is your Christian duty as a citizen. I will vote for the Constitution Party candidate, which in the last election, was Howard Philips. Check out their moral uncompromising platform at www.constitutionparty.com.

You do have an option. The liberals can have the GOP - we conservatives will bolt and leave them to their dead party, as it can't survive without evangelical Christians. The sooner we kill it the better!

You actually would want a woman or very young girl to carry a baby to term if it had been conceived through rape or incest?

Isn't adoption still legal in this country?

Think of potential birth defects, for one thing.

So certain death is preferred over potential birth defects?

Some people have an upwards of 80% chance of getting cancer and lingering on for years after they hit 70. Should we kill them at 69? After all, wouldn't that be better than letting them potentially get cancer?

Don't blame the voters because Tom was never able to convince them to vote for him.

Agreed.

So how about not blaming the voters because Arnold was never able to convince them to vote for him, should he lose.

Where are all the arniebots today - has Arnie's past served to render them speechless? Are they no longer able to defend their horse in this race? It seems even Arniebots cannot defend the indefensible.

By the way FYI, being the Times sat for two years on the Davis revelations, that means while in 2002, they were willing to slam Simon with the false accusations, but gave Davis the pass on battering.

So in effect, Davis was elected by the LA TIMES and not the people. Because had this two year old story been reported during the 2002 election, we would have had a Governor Simon and not Davis.

So the Times elected Davis Governor in 2002.
The LA Times literally elected Davis in 2002 with their actions and they knew what they were doing.

Tom McClintock panders to the Indian gaming interests and has lost a good deal of his "Polly Pure Bread" image. He would rather see a slug like Bustmecha win the election than Arnold. He has shown he has zero credibility. I don't think I would ever vote for the man, even so much as county dog catcher.

Poet -- You are not even a member of the Republican Party and you are telling lifelong Republicans what to do -- give me a break! Since you don't care about Republicans, then your opinion of our candidates means nothing to me!

You have just proved a point, poet, that we have been saying -- that a lot of the negatives toward Arnold are not coming from lifelong Republican conservatives -- note I said lifelong Republican!

Total FACT:

It has been found that Davis was battering women since his Jerry Brown days, all over KFI this morning again.

The Times did an investigation and sat on the results for two years already. They knew about the women hurt by Davis.
Yet, that was called personal and they sat on it.

Meanwhile, having that info for two years means that in the 2002 election while slamming Simon with false crap, they were giving Davis a pass.
This means they protected Davis and in effect elected him Governor by their manipulation of the people by leaving a huge piece of knowedge about Davis out of the race of 2002.

In fact, had the LA TIMES reported their findings during the 2002 race, we'd have Governor Simon right now.

That is a fact and not a joke.

Personally, my take is that the media screwed McClintock by playing up the "Arnold should resign" part of what he said, when a fairer report would have made clear that McClintock was very skeptical as to WHETHER the late-hit stories were true.

But someone at National Review Online agrees with you:

MCCLINTOCK SAYS ARNOLD SHOULD DROP OUT IF GROPING CHARGES ARE TRUE [John Derbyshire]
This is a seriously dumb move by McClintock. His big plus has been that he is a serious, capable guy, who knows how to fix things. This image has been sufficiently well cultivated to take people's minds off the BRN--Big Republican Negative, viz. that we are thin-lipped puritans who want to stamp out all horseplay and make everyone dress in suits and sing hymns. It puts McClintock in Ken Starr territory--in CALIFORNIA, yet!! Bad, bad, with floating voters and persuadable Democrats. Bad, too, with Republican voters--he is taking sides, however justifiably, with the enemy. Bad, bad, bad.

Are you endorsing the LA Times-Enquirer and their lame attempt to influence the election? The stories published in that sorry excuse for a NEWSpaper were held until the last minute for political reasons. Arnold has denied some of the accusations and explained the others. None of the serious charges could be substantiated. From the environment Arnold has come from it is surprising that the Times could not find anyone Arnold has even slept with except his wife. Arnold may not be the most desireable possibility but he can win without taking money from the Indian Gaming indursty or other special interests and he is bound to better than the Gray man.

Arnold apologized - an admission of wrongdoing. Guilty as charged. This incident aside, your man is on the EVIL SIDE of almost every moral issue - that is what I meant by indefensible.
