Readers Angry at The Times for Schwarzenegger Stories
Los Angeles Times ^ | October 5, 2003 | Steve Hymon, Cara Mia DiMassa and Mitchell Landsberg, Times Staff Writers

Kathy McIver is a Democrat from La Habra and a longtime subscriber to The Times. Today's paper, she says, will be the last that will be delivered to her door.

Like many readers, McIver is angry. She is angry about The Times' coverage of the California recall campaign, and especially angry about the stories that the newspaper has run in recent days detailing allegations that Arnold Schwarzenegger touched women inappropriately.

"... Editor John Carroll responded that he believed The Times has provided balanced coverage... "We didn't have a story until the day we ran it," Carroll said. "We were working for seven weeks, seeking women, trying to persuade the women we found to talk with us..."

Hey John! I don't believe you. Not even a little bit!

(I haven't cancelled because there is no other alternative -- keep your friends close and your enemies closer...)

Cancel anyways. There are alternatives. Or you can pick up the occasional copy at a newsstand/machine. But your cancellation will still send a powerful message.

Sort wish you had not posted that pic of Susan. Even if she is a dem, she has become so incredibly fair lately. I admire that because it is difficult to do-especially when you have actually been involved in democratic presidential campaigns and hung out with the biggest partisans going.

Ya know Chadgore-this woman is AGAINST hitlery running for prez and made no bones about it...not to mention her scathing remarks about the LA Times. Why not give her a boost by posting a positve pic of her. She has come a LONG way. Give the girl some credit.

Thanks, but I didn't think to throw in the Pravda reference -- which is EXACTLY what I call it.

I wish we had the Herald Examiner again! The Daily News (and Green Sheet) just isn't on the national scene.
