I'm not sure about turning ESPN off forever, but as for Mr. Berman on Sportscenter (and his occasional play-by-play) and the "NFL kick'em-while-they're-down" crew, our television is tuned in to something else!!!

I'll tolerate ESPN for Joe Morgan and Jon Miller on baseball playoffs. I'll tolerate Sportscenter when anyone but Berman is on the air (Go Linda Cohn!), but anything that has Berman, Jackson, Young, or Ervin (tied for most annoying football "analyst" with CBS Deion Sanders) is forgotten history in our house!

Good to see I'm not the only one who sees the root of the issue. The media and its enablers want to make us afraid to utter anything that can in any way, by any person, be considered racist. This is a quite bloodless way to suppress dissent. Now, I throw this question out into the ether: exactly who are the fascists here?

Not in any obvious way, no. But what's happening, as I said in my post just above, is that the masses are being conditioned to be afraid to ever talk about race, or racism, without being branded a racist. That may not be trampling on the First Amendment, but it sure as hell ain't defending it, is it?

I think you are baiting people. Rush's comments were right on the money, and anyone who thinks he was dumb to say it, should go back and look at the original ESPN announcement that Rush would be joining them, and what they expected him to do. They are quoted as wanting him to be a LIGHTNING ROD. They also supported him up in the controversy until Tom Jackson threated to quit.

I challenge you to show me a single QB stat that argues against what Rush said that makes them dumbass remarks. You cant, you wont, so just STFU.

I watched the show for a while, but the so-called "banter" between the "personalities" really started to get to me. It was like nobody would let anybody finish a thought.

Sounds like "Crossfire". I can't stomach shows like that. What they amount to is "he who shouts loudest, wins". Bill O'Reilly does the same thing on his show. At least his show has a point of view. Crossfire is supposed to be about an exchange of ideas and opinions.

The sheep component in Society is not greater now than it's ever been. It's always been substantial, i.e. Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Clinton, etc. Societal pressures have always dictated what is considered polite conversation and what is not considered that.

The assertion of a person's God given freedom of speech was, after all, asserted by prominent and not common men.

Rush did America and Society at large a favor by sticking this in their face. Aghast at first, reflecting a little later, and pretty soon, the media's going to be forced to abandon yet another of their favorite shibboleths (sp?). Rush didn't say anything racist. Rush, a conservative, said something about a Black QB; therefore, RACISM!

Rush is right. Real men know it. Too bad you don't have any real men on your program. Just sad pretenders.

McNabb is overrated. He is a great talent but he is over rated. The Press wants it to be so. It appears football is wimping out. I know ESPN is.

(Catch a clue. Fantasy Football is not a hint that football is strong. It's a hint that the fans will do anything to make the games interesting again.)

We are also, in my opinion, wasting time debating any other issue about his statement other than whether it was racist. Who cares if he was incorrect about McNabb being overrated? Who cares if he was misguided in thinking his being overrated was due to the media wanting a black QB to succeed ? Who cares if he 'should' have said it at all?

Was it racist? I don't believe so. All other points can be debated, of course, but they have nothing to do with the controversy.
