Yup, you are right.
There was no reason to bring race into his remarks about McNabb.
Then when Rush started feeling the heat, he turned and ran back to the safety of his cult folllowers.
I wonder if...something...is clouding Rush's judgement?

Steve Young sat there like a little bitch, afraid of being spanked by the angry black men. Any respect I had for him went out the window today. What I saw in Steve Young was the opposite of everything I respect in Rush. I know for a fact, that Steve Young is a conservative. Every conservative should be just as angry at Young today for not speaking out as the blacks were for Tom Jackson not speaking out last week.

Rush could have simply said, "As a fan, I think the guy's overrated." Yes, Rush could have omitted his rationale--it would have been PC to do so, but it also would have not been his style. Conservatism is a way of life, you know, and we conservatives like substance on our arguments. Besides, if he wouldn't have specified his reasoning, he would have been asked for it. And if he would have refused to supply his reasoning, the liberals would have inferred it to be rascism. All Rush had to do to appear the racist was to criticize a black player, which, given the prevalence of black players in the sport, would be, in time, impossible to do.

You've been trying to bait people into bickering with you about Rush. Why?
Can you just be happy flinging insults like everyone else?

Liberal overreaction is right. They are based in fear. They fear open discussion, they fear truth. I really am disappointed in Tom Jackson. I was hoping he might just step a little toe over the line of the liberal plantation and at least respond with a bit of rationality. You can see somebody got to him and really urged him to pour it on. By the way, the ridiculous reactions from Wesley Clark and Howard Dean, will make interesting soundbites as that pathetic Dem. primary heats up.

because they had not been told how they should think about until later that week.BY the damn liberal media that wants to see a black quarterback succeed AND a Conservative radio talk show host fail.

Never feel sorry for Rush. He doesn't need that. Rush is a man of character, integrity and truth. He spoke what he knew to be the truth. The truth shall set you free. Rush will survive this. I'm praying that not only will this debacle rebound on liberals but also the whole drug allegations thing. I honestly think there is a good chance on both, the latter since neither the maid nor her flimflamming husband (who was said to be very "impressed" when he heard who his wife would be working for...yeah i bet he was and was probably already planning how to take advantage of the situation) have any credibility. The more i read and think about it the more unlikely the whole thing seems. And the more the liberals pile on the better it'll be if it turns out that Rush is completely innocent.

His rationale was stupid! There have been many successful QBs. He said the media was "desirous of having a {one} successful quarterback"! Duh! Moon. Culpepper. Williams. Cunningham. Again, duh, Rush!

I wonder if...something...is clouding Rush's judgement? I doubt anything is clouding Rush's judgement but sure looks like a cloud of hate is hanging over yours. Rush explained why he decided to resign and if you could see through that dark cloud of yours maybe you would have understood why he did and why it was a classy thing to do. Rush is a man that has handled far more criticism over the years than you can ever imagine having to deal with. He did not suddenly cow under. I think if it had been just him he would have stayed but instead being a part of a team he decided it was best for the team that he did leave. Unfortunately his "teammates" decided to stab him in the back once he was no longer there to respond to them and it is they, i believe, that caved under pressure.

Im not baiting anyone.
I just don't believe that a conservative must defend Rush's dumba** remarks or his turning tail and running after he said it.

"...Machiavellian agenda...He simply forgot...insular world...Rush stumbled..."
Common Michael, this isn't a talk show where you can appeal to people in cleaver sound-bites. This is FR, where logic and truth prevails! Intelligent people actually read, digest and think about information here.
So since the liberal news media and the liberal sports media declared Rush WRONG, you agree!? And you're a courageous conservative and NOT-politically correct, correct? Interesing.
Reading your post makes me realize that my post had some real thinking supporting it. If you're upset with Rush like the liberal news and sports media, that says something. I agree with TrappedInLiberalHell when he opined "Talking ABOUT racism is racist."
Michael, if you "stumbled" half as much as Rush does, you'd have 5 or 10 million listeners.
To: TrappedInLiberalHell
Is Rush in jail for what he said? He was held accountable for his words, so what? He's a big boy and he can take it. I happen to think he was right, and I don't think what he said was racist but I don't think his Frist Amendment rights were trampled upon either.
That the Black Community (which I'm assuming is the Community most offended by his purported racist remark) can't address why Rush is wrong with facts and stats, instead of hand wringing and moaning, is something they're going to have to figure out and stamp out for themselves.
And the idea that this hurts Conservatives is bullshit, no reasonable person can assume malice on Rush's part for his words. A sin requires intent; even a PC loving, truth deflecting, sin. And they are treating Rush's remark as sin, not as a slip up.
That a Black Conservative might find it hard to defend Rush to his Liberal Black friends is no greater a burden than a Conservative having to defend Bush to his Liberal Friends. Mucha ado about nothing, if you ask me and I think that this piling on Rush strengthens both his argument and his hand.

I must assume you are inherently liberal given the ease with which you revise history.
Isn't the percentage of black QBs in the NFL far lower than the overall percentage of black players in the NFL? Isn't the QB regarded as the team leader? Do liberals ever take a break from their policy of affirmative action?
Rush didn't say that blacks don't make good QBs. He didn't say there have been no good black QBs. What he did say was that a good team with a great defense led by a black QB had an overrated leader. He went on to say that the sports media overrated the leader because they wanted it perceived to be his leadership as the reason for the team doing as well as it has.
