ya know, it was about two weeks ago, before Rush made his dumb comments, that a friend of mine and I were talking about our QB selections and guess what, he picked up McNabb. When we were talking, he said, "I bought into the hype again, I have no idea what I was thinking. He sucks." The hype was there, but it wasn't because McNabb is black, the NFL has hype in Daisy Cutter form, they blast hype everywhere. It *is* hype. And McNair doesn't get hyped...is it because he doesn't have a big smile? McNair is a stud, so is Daunte.

Lest we not forget who ultimately owns ESPN: the king of diversity and all things leftist: Michael Eisner. The man who is driving Disney over the cliff.

Those looking for something meaningful and effective to boycott might try not going to Disneyland. (Of course I began my own little boycott years ago when I leared about "Gay Day," so continuing it won't be particularly noticable.)

Do you think ESPN will have the balls to fire the guy who made the decision to hire Rush?

Rush implied that the show was rehearsed on Saturday, and that no one objected to what he proposed to say.

These pussies baited Rush with social commentary of their own. And, they didn't object when Rush's social commentary in defense of black coaches was aired on their program.

What is incredible is to see Moon's all time rankings, he was a monster. Prolific as hell.

Conform or be cast out.

A whole lot of Pavlov's dogs around. A whole lot of green-eyed jealousy too.

Here I says a MAN should conform to neither! Be a man, and jealously hold your own opinions and back them up. Rush has ... and is.

I think the hype was probably three-pronged: one, the media's desire for him to be great since it made for a nice story to finally see a black quarterback break into the quarterback elites; two, like you alluded to in your post the hype of him coming out of the Northeast and then playing for a Northeastern team with the Eagles; three, the fact the he provides a lot of great highlights especially with his big runs.

A little off-topic prediction: within 5 years blacks will start to dominate the quarterback position just as they have nearly every other position...it's already starting on the college level (watch out for Vincent Young, the next great college/pro quarterback)

Actually, it was Wednesday's show where he said this.

Consider though that by resigning, at the request of management, Rush has doomed this show to be a financial basketcase.

Outside of Sportscenter, Countdown has been their number one rated program for YEARS. That's not about to change.

Yes, they probably lost a measure of revenue, due to the conservative audience they just pissed away, but overall, they are in the big-dog position, where they won't miss a blasted thing.

There will be a quiet reexamination of the race issue, yes. But it will be at our expense.

Mebbe Rush (1) is trying to show Dubya what the effect of feeding blood to sharks is, or (2) himself, trying to emulate Dubya's practise.

Ah well, the ball game ain't over yet. Not even close.

I watched the show for a while, but the so-called "banter" between the "personalities" really started to get to me. It was like nobody would let anybody finish a thought. Through all of this, my mind kept saying, "what would Rush have said". Incidentally, the story lines are about as infantile as you can get. What was the fung shwei crap?

You beat me to it Humbug. I heard Rush on Friday too, and, not having time to watching ESPN, I would have hoped that these guys were professional enough to rise above the PC brainwashing.
What a disgusting puke. All Rush did was praise them and especially Tom Jackson and his knowledge and newly found friendship.

True character and lack of it has been shown.

Yes, it's 2003, where teams can be heavily fined (Detroit) for going after a coach and not interviewing people of a favored color.

Yes, conservatives want race out of the picture and people to be not judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. But when leftists pretend to want an honest debate on race, we can either 1) pander and sell out, 2) stick our head in the sand, or 3) challenge their preconceptions. United, we should be able to use option 3 and crush their racist ways. Too often though many will choose 1 or 2 and surrender. That doesn't advance our goal of a color-blind society, it takes us backwards and empowers the racist left.

He is very controversial

The worst thing about this whole situation is that speaking from one's conscience is now controversial. That used to be called courageous. Now it's called racist, a supreme irony considering that Rush was pointing out what he believed to be racist in the media. Why would he call attention to tendencies in others if he was himself?

Are we so whipped by the race-baiters that we are not permitted to suggest racism in others unless we are nonwhite? Apparently so. I tried to post a vanity to spur discussion about what makes a statement 'racist'. I used no vulgarity or racial slurs at all, but the post was pulled. Reason given: 'This is racist troll bait and I do not want it on my forum'.

So I know exactly how Rush feels. Talking ABOUT racism is racist.

And Rush regards these people as friends! Hell, with friends like that I'd need painkillers, too.

"You implied that someone who is without sin, ie. drug addicts should not comment. Yet they do it all the time. And Rush is only accused, that is not proven guilty."

Oh please!

Walkin Man indicated Rush was dirty [my word] when he said "Rush better clean his own house first."

Walkin Man purports that he is religious on his FR page. Hence my remark to him.

At best, they're Metrosexuals, not men. Do you see them all hold hands at the beginning;when they cued the music and had a long shot of them, about 3 seconds before they spoke?

They held hands like a bunch of P------ (pansies)!

Rush implied that the show was rehearsed on Saturday, and that no one objected to what he proposed to say. Of course not! They believed it, too. The ones who didn't wanted the fodder to use against him. Some set him up; the others were afraid to lose their jobs if they were honest. Rush attacked the media, ; the media attacked Rush by accusing him of attacking McNabb's color. McNabb, if he had any sense, would see the media's bias. It's all about agenda and nothing to do with sports.
