Again, Rush was hired so that he could be fired. He made it easy for them and sped up the process.

Sorry, but McNabb is(and has been) overrated

Tell me about it... I drafted him as my #1 QB in fantasy football. What a dud. Good thing I also have Hasselbeck!

Have you ever seen any of the threads at FR criticizing Rush for criticizing President Bush? or Republicans? He is attacked mercilessly and shamelessly every time he points out that Republicans are making some mistakes along the way. Sheesh.

It's the old damned if you do, damned if you don't theory I guess.

The guys on Fox NFL Sunday aren't any better. The black guy on the show, James Brown, asked the rest of the commentators what their take was on the Rush Limbaugh flap. It was amazing to watch those three white guys scrambling to bash Rush. Jimmy Johnson called his comments "ignorant". Howie Long said Rush's comments were at best ignorant, "and at worst, racist". Terry Bradshaw almost had a heart-attack as he breathlessly squawked about how he would never say anything like what Rush said. Pathetic.

Now, if you were one of those sports show guys, wouldn't it absolutely piss you off if someone threw you that race hot potato to have to speak to? They've just put you in a position where you can either repeat leftist drivel or get fired. Ok, so are there any NFL pre-game shows that haven't been bashing Rush today?

What I hear from leftists is "let's have a dialogue about race" but when somebody has the gall to take them up on it and it doesn't meet the group-think approval of the NAACP and their ilk, they'll go all out to destroy you. And some make a good living off racial racketeering.

So when they say "let's have a dialogue about race" you know all they're doing is setting up a trap. And the irresponsible media supply the cheese.

I agree there are great black quarterbacks out there--Steve McNair is one of the top 5 QBs of any color. But why didn't the ESPN crew say that? Not one of them was smart enough to challenge this, becuase the issue was never about their QB skills, but about "social concern" in the media.

Note that the media does not hype McNair. Why? He isn't in a huge city market, and he is quite quiet. In street talk, one could say he "plays white." That doesn't fit the league's Michael Vick/McNabb profile of how a black quarterback should play. Your Warren Moon example FURTHER makes Rush's point, in that the media NEVER latched on to him, because he "plays white."

"What Rush said was stupid and out of line. Should he have been fired? I don't know."

" Rush is beocming a bore lately and I find myself turning him off on his radio show most days too."

That made me feel squishy all over.

Rush was a Yes-Man early on at the time I last listened on a regular basis (when I used to have enough money to eat out at lunch!!!!). I think while he may be critical now, he has to be. The administration is clearly faltering/teetering right now.

I hope Hasselbeck does well for you today. I've been a Seahawks fan since I was a kid, so I've learned how easily they can blow a nice lead.

He should do well. Green Bay is having an off-year. I think it is time for Favre to consider retirement seriously.

"So it's ok to have a convicted drug addict on the show if he is black or at least a liberal. But NOOOOO way will they allow a white conservative who is only accused of being a drug addict. NOOoo way will they allow that!"

Sorry, but you have lost me.

More information as it rgards my post to "walkin man" please?

LOL!!! Maybe a bit of decaf would be appropriate!!!

Sorry, but this is not about football, it's about race. Rush made an ill-advised comment, and got burned for it. Dusty Baker never lost his job over his comments, why should Rush?

Maybe Rush needs to become more ruthless. I'm not concerned about Pres. Bush. His leadership in the conduct of the War on Terror, and in getting his tax cuts passed, demonstrates to me that he is willing to fight for the things that he deems most important.

"In being a gentleman (and resigning), he left the door open for all the attacks not only on him, but on all of us as conservatives. "

Consider though that by resigning, at the request of management, Rush has doomed this show to be a financial basketcase.
Being PC means they lost one sixth of the revenues they'd planned on.

What words could speak louder than that?

The sports media is blaming Rush now, but there'll be a quiet, definite improvement in the sports media on the treatment of race. (Which really doesn't have far to go anyway- there's not much PC racism there anymore IMHO.)

Your show smacks of racism against whites, because you fire Rush but Mr. Jackson can spout off his racist views, with impunity! The fact that you ignore reverse racism is racist!"

But, don't you know that what Rush said was a "rant" while what Mr. Jackson said was a "commentary". /sarcasm

IMHO, the most active "racists" in the year 2003 are folks who were taught from the crib to have a giant chip on their shoulders… to hate those of a different color/religion/you-name-it. And, the leftist media gleefully provides the platform to spew their hate, with impunity.

I have watched ESPN go from one of the best channels on TV for sports fans to a channel I only watch when actual football, baseball, hockey, etc. are being played. I have this thing. I like the sport… the game… the competition. Disney has turned it into a HBO-ABC Evening News mix operating under the guise of a sports channel. Tom Mees is probably spinning at 9200 RPM in his grave.

What they all said was that they didn't respond to Rush at the time he made his comments because they had not been told how they should think about until later that week.

You gotta be kidding. I left the room as soon as I heard "Rush, blah, blah, blah..."

"That's always a bad anaolgy , it was used to discourage those who wanted to stone to death a woman! We've all committed wrongs, does this mean we should not recognize in others when they commit a wrong?"

Thank you HankReardon.

The jury will disregard that remark.

You implied that someone who is without sin, ie. drug addicts should not comment. Yet they do it all the time. And Rush is only accused, that is not proven guilty.

"I think Rush walked into a trap"

I don't think Rush walked into a trap at all!

I think all of this was planned and calculated.

Rush is a marketing genius.

If you wanted to introduce this subject (media bias in favor of blacks, etc.) what better way to do this in front of a much larger audience than his 20 million listener radio audience. He introduced this subject in front of a much larger audience that included a lot of liberals! It was beatiful. It is perfect. Rush didn't just want to introduce a controversial subject just in front of his own cheering choir!

Rush played the race card in reverse. He pulled a reverse Jonnie Cochran, don't you see? He told everybody that the media (OJ jury) is biased at the outset and that you'll never get the truth (an OJ guilty verdict) from them at all.

For all you people complaining about Tom Jackson and Michael Irvin, consider this: if they were totally comfortable with this situation, then they would be conservatives just like us. What are the chances of that?

Jackson, Irvin, Berman ... all these guys just identified themselves as liberals even more. Where is the news there?

Rush did the country a big favor. He is one of the few people who identify an uncomfortable truth that nobody wants to talk about. The fact that there was such a public outcry over this means that HE WAS RIGHT! The outcry is good, because the outcry is coming from the liberal press WHO IS IN PAIN.

Now, as a result of this media-bias-in-favor-of-blacks subject being introduced, a lot more people in the middle and undecided are going to think about this and possibly, silently conclude that Rush was right.

Again, Rush is a marketing and PR genius. The outcry is good, the pain is good, Rush is good.
