A hospital has appealed for donations of up-to-date magazines after a patient discovered a 29-year-old Sunday supplement in a waiting room.
Baffled officials at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli, say they have no idea how it got there since the complex was opened only 12 years ago.
The curious episode of the Sunday supplement came to light when it was plucked from a pile by a patient waiting for an x-ray at the south Wales hospital.
"It was a 1974 edition of a Sunday Telegraph colour supplement, which is probably worth something now," a spokesman for the hospital said.
"But we do not know how the magazine appeared at the clinic because the building itself is only about 12-years-old.
"When it was brought to our attention I consulted the hospital librarian who obviously wants to improve the service to patients.
"As a result we have appealed to the public to donate up-to-date magazines that they no longer need," the spokesman added.

And the pile of dust inderneath the magazine was probably the clinic's first patient... still waiting for his appointment with the doctor.

I bet when they read the articles, Arnold Schwartzenegger was quoted as saying "I am Hitler"

"appealed to the public to donate up-to-date magazines that they no longer need,"
...If they no longer "needed" them, wouldn't that make them not "up to date"?

Every waiting room has 29-year-old magazines and most were delivered recently.

Print out your favorite FR articles and leave them in the doctor's office as a public service.

...with address label to Dr. Macus Welby, MD or current resident still attached, no doubt.

Just damn.If you want on the new list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

This is stupid. Someone probably found the thing in their attic or basement and thought it looked interesting...even at 29 years old. So they either left it at the hospital while they were a patient or visiting. Then again, it might have articles, advertisements and pictures that aren't PC.

What's the big deal? When we tore out the old bathroom tile "mudwall" it was backed by a 1947 newspaper.

Speaking of which, this hospital was in England. Have you heard that Englishman Ozzie Osborne says pot smoking led his son Jack to use harder drugs?
