He's doing a radio show. Its not his deposition. If he's a servant of the truth, why doesn't he tell the truth? What's wrong with admitting that he has a drug problem? If he's criminally liable for something, which I doubt, then he should face the music. If he's innocent, why not say so?

Actually Rush is quoted in a transcript of a show touting legalization, taxation and regulation. It was a philosophical comparison of illegal drugs v cigarette suits filed and millions paid out by cigarette companies..

Listen, cupcake, whenever I need your help to best define "intelligent and reasoned debate", I will wring your neck. This doesn't make any sense. What do you mean by "defining" a "debate"? And why would you "wring my neck" if you "need help" defining a debate (whatever that is)?
Even if this is sarcasm of some kind, it doesn't work, because any intended irony is washed out by the non sequitur.
Please explain.

My next question is: Did she leave or did Rush let her go?? The article said that she was paid $80,000 that Rush owed her via Rush's attorney.
The whole tale makes less and less sense as we go along.

I sit here corrected. The "war on drugs" obviously has never been one of "my" issues, so I guess I missed that part. (I wish I had the recall to be able to quote those things that did and do impress me about the FR philosophy. No time at present to dig through the archives.)
However, having said that, opposing a war on drugs and advocating liberal drug usage are two different matters, imo. ... Few users are rotting in prison for using; if they're in prison -- rotting or otherwise, it's because of crimes in addition to or because of that drug use. Narcotics distort perceptions.

It might make more sense if you took the trouble to read today's Enquirer article. She left because she didn't get on with Limbaugh's wife Marta.
She then began a ledger so she could log how much money he owed her.

I can't wait to see which of us has sharper perception. I was just the opposite of you, inclined to think there was something to the story until I heard him today. My impression has to do with his words, tone and attitude. We'll see.I hope you are right. I didn't listen to his show today, I'm going by the comments on the threads here on FR. I was expecting a blanket denial, not some non-denial. Like I wrote earlier, the whole story sounded phony to me initially with all the cigar boxes at Amoco junk, the enormous quantity of pills supposedly bought, etc. Plus, as several posters pointed out FR, Rush could simply go to a doctor and get the pills prescribed legally. It just made no sense for him to be a junkie going to a dealer.
Of course, since he didn't call the charges ridiculous today I'm having serious doubts.

I missed the last couple minutes and walked in on "things may not have been addressed here" or something like that. Did he say anything else of note at the very end?

Do you sense this might be part of a grudge payback on the part of the maid?

If he's a servant of the truth, why doesn't he tell the truth? What has he lied about?
If he's innocent, why not say so?
If he did, what would he gain? People would only say he was lying by issuing his own "I did not take drugs with that woman" statement.
The truth will come out. In the meantime, why feed the media beast?

The government has no business in forbidding 'drugs' to citizens. If you believe otherwise, you're a socialist, plain and simple. Exactly. And when conservatives become socialists they deserve the hottest place in hell.

Quotes from jjbrouwer's post above:
Dec 9, 1993 - "If (Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders) wants to legalize drugs, send the people who want to do drugs to London and Zurich and let's be rid of them."
Dec 9, 1993 - "I'm appalled at people who simply want to look at all this abhorrent behaviour and say, 'People are going to do drugs anyway - let's legalize it.' It's a dumb idea, it's a rotten idea..."
Has he had an epiphany? Has he denounced the collectivist premises and purposes of the WOD? I'm moving my odds up to 1 million to 1 that he will ever do so...until the Final Judgement of course--but then it will be too late.

Vicodin abuse does cause hearing loss, but the thing I keep coming back to in these conversations is that the House Clinic specifically said in a press conference back at the time that Rush's hearing loss was *not* caused my medication abuse. Surely they had gotten to the bottom of things and done tons of tests, etc., and I can't imagine an institution of such repute would lie and cause themselves a huge ethical headache.
To: GOPrincess
Yes, I'm sure there is a lot of that. There is probably bad blood between Wilma and the Limbaughs. However, that doesn't make her story untrue.
She has the email evidence on her computer - which will give an ISP match to Limbaugh. Also she and her hubby have taken and passed lie detector tests. And, I believe there is also audio-taped conversations between her and Limbaugh which the Enquirer is threatening to put up on its website.

If he's innocent, why not say so?1. He said on today's show he would explain everything at the proper time. This is very prudent and more than likely also advised by his attorney.
It has been a mere 24 hours. If he explains everything in, say 2 weeks, will it make it any less truthful or important.
Those that expected everything to be out, done, over within 24 hours have the American syndrone: Let's getting everything wrapped up in 1 day, like in the movies or TV.
2. Rush may be calculating. Only he knows if this is true or not. But, assuming for a minute it is not true, Rush would be very smart to allow the left to continue their non-stop barage over the week end and into next week allowing them to look like complete idiots when it comes out that this whole thing was either:
A. Staged by opponents (i.e. Democrats) or
B. A way to get a money settlement out of Rush or
C. This maid, who has ADMITTED she was selling prescription drugs illegally AND her felon husband cooked this up to get out of a huge jam they are in.
Again, I am just amazed at how so many on this board are ready to throw Rush overboard just because he is not doing things on their time schedule.
