If Rush is thrown overboard by his listeners, Hitlery wins.

How is throwing users in jail, which the drug laws do every day, "supporting them?" If you support legalization, of course, I fully endorse your comments.

Again with the reading comprehension problems. I did not say you were demanding to be informed. I said you were demanding to not be informed.

The two of you are both saying the same thing. You are demanding that Rush tells you what's going on. He is not demanding that Rush tells him what's going on.

You are insistent about getting information on a matter that has absolutely nothing to do with you. He isn't.

The only one with any comprehension problems is you!

Maybe this will wake up a few on the right...

I'm only testifying for the children - I've pretty much written off their elders.

Their elders,(present company excepted of course) are too busy gettin' theirs from the socialist goody-bin or too concerned with what others think to ever make a rational judgment on their own.

That's a good point. Millions of folks are hooked on legal drugs but ya know what, they're in pain and they deserve to be relieved of it.

Yeah, it would have been better, from a political sense, to just open up today and lay it all out.

It never makes sense to respond to allegations that have yet to be fully disclosed.

Yeah, it would have been better, from a political sense, to just open up today and lay it all out. But given potential legal jeopardy, that may be very unwise, and even more damaging.

He should listen to his lawyer and not discuss any criminal investigation. He should listen to his doctor and not discuss any medical condition. He should listen to his wife and not discuss any personal condition. He should listen to God and not discuss any spiritual condition.

He can still discuss politics and sports.

How about them Redskins ?

I respectfully disagree. Especially if the drug abuser needs pain medication.

The medical profession is clearly unable to help many people with chronic pain. What starts with a surgery or injury and taking pills can and does lead to a longer addiction.

I don't advocate letting street users go free who are committing crimes against others to support their habit. That is dangerous for society and we pay taxes to be protected against anti-social dangerous behavior from others.

I meant it as someone who is a mindless drug supporter.

I'm curious what leads you to the adjective "mindless." I spelled out the thinking behind my position; I made clear there is a logic and rationale supporting it. While you may disagree with my stance, it is clearly not "mindless." Please explain what leads you to the adjective "mindless."

And yes, there's a big problem with using incorrect medication that will only make things worse in the long run. Self medication isn't funny, it's not cool. It's a real bad problem.

First, it doesn't necessarily "make things worse in the long run." Second, I didn't say self-medication is "funny" or "cool." Pain is not funny or cool; relieving pain certainly isn't, either. Third, people in pain will tell you the pain is a "real bad problem"; finding a solution to that pain is a much better state of existence.

but what if this particular maid offered Rush these drugs at various times and got him hooked.

Could all just be a fabrication. Her word against his. How do you prove you don't have a drug problem?

Even if this all stops here, the character assassins have accomplished their goal -- never again will Rush's name appear in the press without mention of his alleged drug problem. Drugs will be to Rush what potato is to Dan Quayle.

He may not. Of course this is speculation, but if he sent his maid to get the pills from the pharmacy, she may have bought them on the street (pocketing the cost difference).

I have news for you: opiates cost far more on the street than they do in a pharmacy. That excuse won't fly. As someone mentioned, a single vicodin can go for $20 in the open market; "oxys" can cost upwards of $40 for one pill.

For the life of me I don't understand how a lot of posters have missed my point. Maybe it's because the thread is so long and people don't read all the posts carefully. Here's what I said again. I know that he can't talk about it. I've said that 3 times. I don't need to know right now. All I said was he handled it badly and his comments that he doesn't know what he is dealing with is not truthful and insulting. He would have been better off saying nothing at all. As I said several times before, all he had to say was his attorney has told him not to talk about it and move on.

Ever dealt with an abuser? Pity and/or sympathy doesn't get you very far if you're talking about helping the addict.

And if you were in his place, you would...........? Be specific

If I were guilty, I would say that my legal counsel is addressing the matter and I was unable to comment on it at all per his advice. If I were innocent and the allegations were totally baseless, I would say so with the proviso that I would not answer specific questions per advice of counsel.
