Hmmm...

Remember, Rush is considered the biggest weapon of democrat/liberal/leftist mass destruction on the planet. Next to Bush, he is the Big Target. It would not surprise me to see an all-out war against him by the enemy.

Speaking only for myself, in a half-century of living, I've taken codeine for assorted broken bones, abcessed teeth, and a variety of other injuries, and the stuff just makes me feel slow and stupid.

You may recall that right before 9-11, the usual suspects in the Jackal Pack Press were trying to paint oxycontin as the new Demon Drug-- there were stories of crazed codeine-heads driving maniacally all night through trailer parks to get their fix.

I though it was a pile of garbage then, and still do.

This is such a sick, twisted allegation. As if Rush couldn't find a doctor willing to write a prescription...Give me a break!

Wait till the media makes the hydrocodone/deafness connection. May the Lord give Rush the strength to weather yet another storm.

It seems kind of strange how hard they're going after folks like Rove and Rush all of a sudden.

If it is true that the police say Rush is under investigation and they refuse to confirm or deny specifics concerning the case it is possible that the story has some elements of the truth. I don't believe he was taking almost 92 pills per day but he may have developed a drug problem due to all his hearing stuff. It seems odd however that he would get drugs from his housekeeper since he know everyone is out to get him and would be smart enough not to put himself at risk. I would think he would use a doctor.

If it turn out he has an addiction it would make no difference in my opinion of his work or of him as an individual. I would just feel sad that he would have such a painful problem to confront. Addiction is a very compelling force and will make people do things that they would never have dreamed of doing before they fell under their control.

Okay, I'm looking at the dates in the article and thinking, "Someone has been sitting on this for a long time."

Pretty cool that we got a heads up right here on FR, the day before it showed on DRUDGE.

The politics of personal destruction ... I wonder who's behind this, for real?

The maid probably is not being detained because her lawyer obviously made a deal for some kind of immunity for her in exchange for wearing the wire.

This is the part that worries me...i.e., any tapes.

I'm so sick over this, I barely slept last night. I've listened to Rush regularly for about 13-14 years now. He's been my rock.

With the left's volley of vicious attacks this week, I'm sure most of us are reeling.

But we have to remain strong, pick ourselves up and each do our part in counter-attacking.

Rush is just a man.

He is not a diety.

I personally hope he has or will get a handle on his problem and continue his show.

In one missive, Limbaugh pushed Cline to get more "little blues" - code for OxyContin, the powerful narcotic nicknamed hillbilly heroin, she said.

LOL! You can't MAKE this stuff up! Uh, wait...

Very sad if true. I know someone with terrible chronic pain who became addicted to oxycontin. Like the description in the article he ended up taking an unbelievable number of them. But it also severely affected his ability to think clearly. Granted he was not as smart as Rush, but it seems hard to believe that Rush could be on the air after taking so many pills and not have anyone notice that something was terribly wrong. Perhaps someone who can work "with half his brain tied behind his back" might be able to fool people. Perhaps not being able to see the fallout from the ESPN comment is a symptom.

The stuff is incredibly addicting. It is believable that even Rush could not resist the siren song of these pills.

"- Hydrocodone

Anti-cough agent and painkiller similar to morphine. Side effects include anxiety, poor mental performance, emotional dependence, drowsiness, mood changes, difficulty breathing and itchiness."

So much for accuracy in media. I took Hydrocodone for 6 months for pain after two surgeries. It is commonly known as "Percocet". These people are trying to make it sound like he shot up or drank cough syrup every day. This story is so disgusting, I can't see straight.

I went to bed last night listening to reports about his ESPN resignation, and woke to the drug stuff. I'm keeping an open mind about the whole thing, but I am certainly suspicious of one simple fact: Clandestine drug buys and multiple detox sessions would have exposed Rush's identity to dozens of people. Anyone with a brain would realize the opportunity to exchange such explosive information for huge sums of money. But it appears the only person making the allegation is the one that's under investigation for dealing.

His personal foibles are of no interest to me, but if true, these allegations would certainly prove to be harmful to the conservative cause. He's just too big an icon.

Those shows are a waste of time. I don't understand why Rush would spend the time when he could be on the golf course.
