A state law that took effect this month allows residents of 28 other states who hold valid concealed weapon permits to carry their weapons in Arizona.

The move is the latest step in what is expected to eventually be a national recognition of concealed weapon permits, much the way drivers licenses are recognized.

I realize CA will not reciprocate but, does this mean my CA CCW permit is acceptable in AZ?

If you read the listed states California is on the list. That would mean your Ca. permit is acceptabel in Az.

It's not reciprocity yet, here in MN, but it will be, after the legislature has a little talk with Commissioner Stanek, next session...

Wonder why my Washington permit isn't good down there. Maybe because our legislature refuses to recognize the permits from any other state? Pinheads!

"Washington permit isn't good down there"

Very few recognize WA permits.....because we're a "shall issue" state. That means if you haven't been convicted of a crime......or domestic violence (misdemeanor).....or under a current restraining order....and are a legal US citizen residing in Wash St.......the state "shall issue" you a permit.

We don't have to jump through the training and safety hoops. Many states are freaked out by that.

Looks like I should add a Utah CCW to my Idaho CCW. That covers more territory. The local gunshop runs Utah CCW classes on the regular basis in Pocatello.

Arizona won't be seeing many California CCW holders. It's damn hard to get one there. Judges and celebrities have no problem as long as they are on good terms with the country sheriff.

Good News indeed.

Now all those CCW states have to get on the ball and ban civil lawsuits in shootings by licensed owners if they are no-billed or found not guilty.

Anyone know how many states now do this?

THX. My company has an office in Phoenix. This is good news. I hope NV follows, as my dad lives there. NV does allow driving with a loaded gun in the vehicle. You just can't carry it on you person concealed when out of the vehicle.

I like that list a lot.. I wish there was a combined effort by the states to have all CHL's approved, and a reasonable standard that's national. Not federally applied, but worked out among the states.

Do they communicate well enough however to do it?

Anderson cited a 1999 study that showed Texas residents who carry permits are 22 times more likely to get arrested than the general population. Texas has similar concealed weapons laws to Arizona, she said.

A total lie.

The gun grabbers are nothing but liars. They cite phoney "studies" and the press just stupidly publishes the nonsense as if its Holy Writ. All anybody has to do in order to bebunk this crap is to go to the Florida State DOJ website and look up the statistics on CCW holders: in the 13 years since Florida instituted shall issue, less than .01% of the permitees had their permit revoked for a gun-related indident. End of story. Its the most successful government program ever introduced. There's no reason to believe that the good citizens of Texas are any more criminally-inclined than those of Florida.
