Well the question is obviously rhetorical but let's look at some interesting data from the latest LA Times poll. And well considering how so many Tom supporters trust the LA Times I figured they might find this data quite interesting.
What is your impression of Tom Mclintock?
Favorable: 62% (likely voters) Breakdown: 39% (Dems) 88% (Rep)
Unfavorable: 25% (likely voters) Breakdown: 40% (Dems) 8%(Rep)
What is your impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Favorable: 58% (likely voters) Breakdown: 30% (Dems) 89% (Rep)
Unfavorable: 39% (likely voters) Breakdown: 65% (Dems) 10%(Rep)
Should Tom McClintock stay in the race to help the Democrats split the Republican vote? (Paraphrased)
Stay in: 58% (likely voters) Breakdown: 80% (DEMORATS!!!) 36% (Rep)
Drop out: 36% (likely voters) Breakdown: 15% (Dems) 61% (REPUBLICANS!!!)

Oh they'll be around to convince you of the error of your ways. Take care.

Don't bet anyone that Tom won't find his way to New Hamster next spring. If my suspision is correct, he's going to recognize that his political future in California is nill. His only chance is to find additional backing before his afterglow dims. I think there's a serious chance he may try to go national next year.

LOL. Do you remember when FR broke the story that McCain's wife was wearing the same "Broach regimen" as FReeping Madeline Albright?
I don't think that was picked up by the networks.
I do recall that the NH primary was rigged and mercilessly misreported, followed by a deluge of coverage over the scandal of George W. Bush's dirty slimy icky slandering unsportsmanlike treatment of Saint Johnny "My father is an Admiral, I need Medical help" McCain in the South Carolina primary.
These scumbags at the Times, Post, CNN, ABCNBCCBS and AP are no worse now than they were in 99-00, or "IranContra" or VietNam or covering McCarthy Hearings.
Now? Their monopoly is history. FOX News was an also ran in 2000, now they dominate the space not employing diaper-clad anchormen.

The only conclusion I can conjure is that Tommy cannot win his job back against the popular, productive and respected colleague he's drawn as an opponent after the redistricting disembowelment his colleagues gave him.
His entire program, and that of his "too vested an interest" acolytes here, has been scorched earth. It's sanctimonious arson. I'll never understand how he received Alan Keyes' endorsement.
Right now, it's Alan and the folks from Heaven's Gate who are riding Hale Bobb into the Sun.

The country is becoming more moderate, young people are becoming more moderate, and ultimately, the first political party to become more moderate will rule.

You need to be moderate first, then lead people of faith, kindness and hard work toward their interests.
A ban on Partial Birth Abortions, a mandate of parental notification before a procedure on a minor, and a criminal sanction on interstate transport of a minor for abortion services is a platform many moderates can get behind, and those wins are an inarguable victory for the Pro-Life movement.
All or nothing on abortion prohibition, gun ownership, same sex recognition, private property use, environmental prerogative and workplace supervision is doomed to lose in 2003 California.
In a statewide office in MOST of our U.S., conservative need to first get a foothold within political office and positioning, but ain't nothing happening until we move people toward our view of abortion, gun rights, property and role of government. We need to persuade our citizen neighbors, and that happens over time and trust and standing.
We're moving that way, I feel it. The McClintock dead enders and assorted con men here want to blow up any opportunity for the GOP to make incremental gains for the party, even if the larger gains for California are in hand. Screw 'em, they'll be back working against Bush in 2004.

Keep McClintock in the race, let his promoters celebrate his 11% showing with the knowledge that the truly inspired and misunderstood: Big Bang, Tyrannoasaurus Rex, Peking Man, Jesus Christ, Aquinas, Gallileo, Lincoln, Churchill, Mother Theresa, Ghandi, Chuck Berry, Lenny Bruce, Charo, New Coke, David Hasselhoff and Alan Keyes ... were not fated to be appreciated in their time.Cool post, dude!

It's a good thing Tom is staying in.
If Schwarzenegger or Davis wins, no harm done.
If Bustamante wins, the country will get a real preview
that it desperately needs of what is coming to the
entire US if we don't act to stop illegal immigration.
If McClintock wins, that's great!
In any case, McClintock holds true to his word,
unlike Bush I or Bush II, and becomes what you are
obviously trying to ensure does not exist - a
Republican who can be trusted to keep his word
to conservatives.

Are the 100+ names on the ballot still there from the begining? Even if they drop out thier name will be there.

McClintock's word to Burton: " I WILL NOT BE THE SPOILER"
Oh wait, since his poll numbers are now declining, I guess that he will be good to his word. He won't be a spoiler he will just be a loser.
And tell me, what is this new trend of FR to write a post in short lines so it is difficult to read and looks like a poem? Is this what they are teaching in school now?

Duh. Of course they want him to stay in. Why? So he can allegedly divide the Republican vote and their fool Busty can win.

This contest will provide insights into how seriously FReepers should take all the holier-than-thou Conservatives who will be badmouthing, extorting, threatening, undermining and predicting a painful demise for George W. Bush in November, 2004 if he doesn't start returning their calls, providing them an IT job, and showing them the deference their purity warrants. ROFL
I must admit President Bush has been better and will continue to be better than any Democrat or Republican on the horizon. We need to elect more conservative Republicans in the Senate and House. That is the battleground.
