Voters favored recalling Gov. Gray Davis by a large margin in a Los Angeles Times poll released Tuesday and Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger was ahead of Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, a Democrat.

It was the second recent statewide survey to show Davis badly behind and Schwarzenegger in the lead. There is a week to go until the Oct. 7 election.

He's on the conservative team. Now, I know that that's not a real popular team for some people at the moment, but it's a damn fine team all the same. Too bad so many folks on both sides have forgotten who the real enemy is.

Polls indicate that had Arnold not entered, McClintock would have handily won over Cruz and California would have ended up with a conservative governor. Please see my tagline.

I must have missed the poll you're talking about. Could you let me know the link? It would have been nice to see what Darrel, Bill, Tom and Peter would have been like head to head.

Bait, eh?

Saber, I have made a point of ignoring you, because I think you think you are more important than everyone else, otherwise you would not have the need to post that ostentatious "look at me --- read my lofty posts" icon.

You may think you're special, but I do not.

"Too bad so many folks on both sides have forgotten who the real enemy is. "

I completely agree.

I think we should act more like a family, where family members may bicker among each other, but close ranks against an outside enemy to fight the outside enemy together, then we can work out the details later among ourselves.

With all the things I dislike about the Democrats, they have this one down pat. Note even the 10 midgets, they spend most of their time attacking Bush, not each other.

Do you share the same disappointment for those who slander not only the name of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but of those of us who support him?

We'll have to see what we can do about this, eh?

Well, if McClintock runs for the Senate nomination, I'll certainly vote for him in the primary. Until then, there are a couple of things that can be done to keep the party leadership from feeling comfortable...

1. Vote McClintock, let Schwarzenegger win with a plurality.

2. Vote for Proposition #54, to rebuke Schwarzenegger's sellout on racial privacy.

3. Get the Save Our License referendum on the March Primary ballot, regardless of what Scharzenegger does. He just wants to give the Illegals the drivers' licenses after better background checks anyway, so we need to keep it out of his hands.

I said it's too bad people on both sides have forgotten who the real enemy is, and it's also too bad that they've forgotten Ronald Reagan's advice. But thank God Bustamante seems to be losing the race all by himself.

No one, and I mean no one, not even the Democrats want to be punished through higher taxes for Gray Davis's foul-ups. No one wants their car taxes tripled and no one wants their ciggarette taxes raised again or their sales taxes or their income taxes. And no one really wants the illegal aliens to get drivers licenses. These are all losing issues.

Bustamante's tough love campaign has doomed his chances. Arnold and McClintock will both be fine. The voters of California are going to recall Davis and reject Bustamante. They are not going to recall one failed governor and install another with the same and worse problems. Fact is, Arnold and McClintock are both gonna beat Bustamante.

probably right. Californians of every stripe feel they have been screwed enough.

Arnold is probably going to win, and we have to find ways to maximise whatever leverage any republican win will give us... and not just here in California.

He lied to Issa and doesn't respond to the Republican party from what I've read.

He should not take on Boxer, better a more stable candidate take her on.

Won't happen. Issa, Brulte, Jones, and even Simon will get party backing before McClintock does.

I believe that Tom's talents would be wasted in the U.S. Senate. He should run for re-election to the state senate. In '06, the Lt. Governor's post will be open (Bustamante will be term limited), and he should be able to trade his name ID and positives for that stepping stone to the governorship. It is also possible that Arnold will simply grow bored and quit after one term (a la Jesse Ventura)...

I nominate this for the most destructive and ludicrous post of the evening.

Let's cut back on Arnold's votes, maybe we can cut back enough to get Bustamante to win, that'll humble Arnold, that's what you are really saying, right?!

Are you allowed to nominate yourself for that sort of thing?

Anyway, I'm not sure it's even in your top ten strawmen.

So what happens to BustaBoobies when Arnold wins? Is he still the Lt. Rat?

He was on the outs with Gay Doofus - imagine his power and authority as Deputy Assistant Junior Lt. Terminator.
