Voters favored recalling Gov. Gray Davis by a large margin in a Los Angeles Times poll released Tuesday and Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger was ahead of Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, a Democrat.

It was the second recent statewide survey to show Davis badly behind and Schwarzenegger in the lead. There is a week to go until the Oct. 7 election.

Jim, actually -- here is the story.

The original of that post exists.

But it was re-posted on this thread (with notification to the original poster) as post #68 on this thread, THAT was pulled.

Ok, backing up a bit. I see the original post on the original thread was not pulled. The copy of the post that was pasted into this thread was deleted. Someone reported that a flamewar was being thread jumped.

>>> ...as Haynes said..."We will not advance principle

Hedgecock also said,
"It's Arnold's attitude that makes him a winner, and
it's Tom's attitude that makes him a loser."

I posted my own thoughts to jmc813, and then added Arne Fufkin's post #189 to my post #68 and I also pinged Arne.

I didn't realize my post to jmc813 containing Arne's #189 had been pulled until FO notified me in a post to me!

Utterly confusing, huh?

There was one pulled a few posts above that one where the poster told someone to "pull his head out of his ass."

If this was by the same poster, then I agree. I myself have "gone there" before and have been had posts pulled, quite justifiably. Sometimes one can get carried away. :O)

PS: Thanks.

Yes indeed. Character and attitude counts.

It is ironic, and too bad that McClitock couldn't see the big picture. He could have been a hero and would have helped his future career a great deal by doing the right thing. He is only 47, in 7 years, he would have been as old as Arnold is now, and he could have run for governor then, using his successes in the Schwarzenegger administration as a record.

He is indeed cutting off his nose, to spite his face.

He may have been a good man once, but his character flaws drove him to this path of self destruction.

Indeed. Was this verified?

Hopefully, #68 can be retrieved for edification purposes only, --- my post was to the point and POLITE!

Sheesh. Give us a break. McClintock is a good man and we need him in California. Don't worry, he will survive these petty attacks on his character.

I'd love to see the party back him in a bid against Boxer in 2004. We folks here in CA and the across the country would benefit tremendously by Senator McClintock representing the great State of California.

Its a brilliant post, shouldn't have been pulled by anyone who really is not afraid of honest debate.

There are realists in California, thank God, they realize that Arnold can and will win, and that Tom will not, not now, not ever, not ever statewide. But they are willing to be lemmings and all leap off the cliff on their self styled principals and risk the greater evil to run their state.

I just don't understand fundamentalist thought, not in California, the USA, Iraq, etc.

So the LA Times is trustworthy now? It's getting hard to keep up.

Lick your finger.

Won't happen. Issa, Brulte, Jones, and even Simon will get party backing before McClintock does.

JIm, I do have the absolute utmost respect for you, and I respect most people here on both sides.

We all want a Republican win -- with the exception of a few,-- and sometimes frustration carries us away a bit.

I agree Tom does have a lot to offer, he has the right ideas, a fine mind, a great understanding of issues, he can do a lot of good in California, if he would be willing to be more of a team player he could go far.

Here's my post #68 ---

There's been a lot of damage. The animosity expressed here has been (still is) breathtaking in its scope and severity.

I remain resentful toward the out-of-state vitriolic and vociferous McNader supporters, because it's a game to them, but not to me.

I think, Arne Fufkin has expressed the sentiments of Arnold supporters, and I think you will see our point and perhaps you might even agree with us:

I then inserted Arne's # 189
