California to Formally Endorse Arnold Schwarzenegger Today

I thought the election wasn't until October 7th... :^)

This announcement comes as a big blow to Tom McClintock.

Although this should be true I can't believe that McClintock will see it as a big bolw. At this point he's only in it for the publicity, being so far behind in the polls and all. By gladly taking away voted from Arnold he shows that he could care less if CA has to put up with liberal demoncRATs from now on.

As much as I admire him..........and I admire him a LOT...........McClintock should pull out, endorse Arnold, help him get elected......and then get the support of the Party for a run at the Senate. Anything else would be political suicide for him, IMHO.

Arnold was doing fine on his own, polls indicating he's picking up lots of independent and even Democrat voters. I don't see how the endoresement of one of the political parties really helps him. In fact, it might actually do harm.

Huge Blow to McClintock

Arnold got all of his back in the go-go seventies.

For a man that has already demonstrated that he couldn't care less if Bustamante wins or not, I don't see why this would be a big blow to him.

Its stupid that the GOP should have to endorse one of their own candidates. McClintock just cut his throat for any future GOP help.

Not that I doubt this reflects the majority opinion in the party, but how does a party make this endorsement without a primary? I'm not asking this philisophically, I'm asking about the mechanics - like who makes the call, and what input is required.

Proving yet again that California no longer has a Republican Party, just some guerrillas holding a few outposts.

California GOP platform:

1) Kill the babies; 2) Allow lavender "marriage";

3) Allow lavenders to adopt innocent children:

4) Attack religious values in whatever ways are available;

5) Make world safe for polo;

6) Grab guns;

7) Beat the servants thoroughly with a GOP club;

8) Raise taxes to indoctrinate the surviving babies in gummint skewels;

9) Make brie and chablis the official state meal.

You deserve what you are voting for. Don't say you were not warned. Don't blame Cruz or Doofus. Blame yourselves. You have earned the blame.

I posted this on another thread and got not on single answer, I'll post it again here and see if I get the same.

Has anyone thought about what might happen if McClintock drops out and davis then cuts loose with some serious dirt on Arnold?

And I'm just asking the question admitting full well that I support McClintock in this.

This is not an Arnold slam etc., simply a what if scenario.

I don't think it's really a huge blow, nor a suprise. The party establishments have their official candidates anyway in a lot of races, this just makes it official and more open.

The blow delivered by the establishment was given a long time ago.

Endorsements are vastly overrated. Having said that, I think Arnold is headed for victory, though I believe that McClintock is far more qualified for the job.

"This announcement comes as a big blow to Tom McClintock"

I seriously doubt that! Tom just said in a recent statement that the "establishment" has never supported him - and he on the contrary gets his support from grassroots conservatives, and that was just fine with him.

DETAILS. What part of the California GOP?

The full state central committee is forbidden by its bylaws to endorse in a recall election.

Is this the executive committee or board of directors of the CRP which is doing this?

In either case, it's a group of largely big-money, big-moderates, country clubbers making the decision, not the grassroots activists who ARE the Party.
