Excellent article.

Look at the last section about why homeschoolers are succeeding.
There are some things to consider there about the advantages that homeschoolers have. Intact families, higher income, high regard for education.
I think that anything that works deserves a pat on the back. (Although you wonder how many homeschoolers don't take these tests, and therefore, their numbers are not included in the averages.)
A friends daughter just clepped out of college and went directly to law school.....she's homeschooled and 19 years old.

Way cool. Great resource!
It's obvious why the NEA hates homeschooling.

Pinging you!
Thanks for the ping tiggy. xzins, this sentence needs correction.
"we can reasonably conclude that it does not require a great deal of money to home school successfully."
More money for education will not solve problems. Billions are spent and children are still graduating uneducated. I have debated liberals for years who believe we need to spend more money on education. It won't do any good.

Thanks for posting this! I think a significant piece of data is the one showing that achievment test scores of boys and girls are identical!!
There have been so many studies done lately about how boys are falling behind in schools because of the push to make education better for girls left them out in the cold! It is great to see the confident young men who come out of homeschooling, as well as the young women!!

Homeschooling Ping. Interesting article takes a look at statistics, achievement, profile of parents, etc.

Someone said, "Children are not taught to learn or to think, they are taught to be a cog, to listen and perform to a acceptable standard."
This is dead on correct. What really opened my eyes is that being a "cog" was the orginal intention of the school system's founders. This was revealed to me in the research of John Taylor Gatto, specifically his huge Underground History of American Education. This former teacher of the year, his books, and video project can be found at
