How about responding to the orginal article. Is the G.O.P. being honest to its constituency about its support of its believes and platforms? And if it isn't, shouldn't it have the guts to say so?

There is a cry from moderate Republicans and "concern" from the media that McClintock should withdraw in favor of Arnold, else the GOP might not win and the dreadful Bustamante will become governor.

If this does happen, McClintock can forget about a career in Republican politics.

Well, he must be - apparently anyone who supports Arnold is a RINO - according to some conservatives these days.

Personally, I think he is principled, but this is a rough crowd that will turn on any candidate that doesn't toe the party line.

So, I think you are wrong. I don't believe that a leader can change the hearts and minds of people in the few short weeks that lead up to an election.

On the contrary, its the only time they pay attention.

Lets look at history. Probably there is no better leader, and pursuader to walk the earth than Jesus Christ. He managed to convince a few people that he was not only right but that he was God. He even had perfect press when he entered Jursalem.

But when it was put to a vote, the people hadn't really moved that far from their personal posistions. That takes time. So the vote went for Barabas over Jesus.

This is an apt example and I will answer your challenge. Jesus had a large following, the apex of which was when He triumphantly entered Jerusalem. However, He was a threat to the political powers of Israel. You see, it wasn't that they liked Rome, it was that Rome allowed them to rule so as to keep the peace. If Jesus stirred up trouble, Rome could come and do away with the self-rule (and them personally). It was the chief priests and the pharisees who put Jesus on trial and handed Him over to Roman authority. It was their followers who called for Barrabas.

This is important... they made a political calculation to cut Jesus loose to save their own skins.

Thank you for a great lead in to a lesson on this recall election.

Did you not read what I posted, as a courtesy? I have had enough at explaining some basic facts to the cranially challenged and refuse to indulge the likes of you ANYMORE.I read this tripe and reject it because his premise is irrelevant to the larger issue at hand.

I have told you twice that I think it is self indulgent and yet you ask me to explain myself? Get lost and quit trying to bait me, or I will hit abuse on you.

You get the point.

Oh yeah, I get the point; you are placing a bet on the race car that has flat tires.

Red herring... that isn't the choice.

Does McClintock have a secret plan to exterminate the Democrats on October 6th or something?

Tip O'Neill (though a liberal) had it right when he said, "All politics is local". The national GOP platform is pretty meaningless in California if the majority of voting Californians think that it's too extreme. If you want to lose elections, you can continue to alienate the electorate. If you want the big tent, you have to build one. Why are some Conservatives so thick when it comes to this point?

If the majority was still for him, they would have stopped it. Not even his disciples followed him because they didn't get it yet.

The same is true for CA voters. They don't get it yet.

Maybe if all of you RINOs (and yes, I mean it) would support the only candidate in this race who follows the GOP platform, we could actually win.

People who assume rigged polls from the LA Times reflect reality have no business calling anyone else a RINO.

No, the left is selling each and every day in the papers, in the schools, on TV etc. You cannot reverse those teachings by making a few speeches. You are not going to move people that quickly.

I am as conservative as they get. I will wait until the day before the elections, look a real clear politics - study all the polls and determine if there is a change that fat greasy pig bustamante has a change. If he does, it no on the recall and I pray our recall is a failure. My voting mentality this election is keep bustamante out. Some here don't get that. A lot of CA's have that mentality, even some rats I know.

I assumed too much... you didn't get the point. You are voting not on your principles but on which way you think your neighbors will vote. That makes you a political lemming.

Oddly similar to what happens here when pro-AS articles are posted...

And when pro-TMc articles are posted, it is greated by the squeals of cranky old farts.
