It is time...ASK McClintock to DROP OUT of the race
McClintock website ^

McClintock is a great guy! I agree with him and if I could wave my magic wand, I would make him the Gov. of California...no questions asked.
Now, back to reality.
McClintock is running BEHIND Arnold and should DROP OUT for the good of the Republican party and for California...who cannot take any more liberal Governors!
Yes, he could stay in .... and after the election his supporters can say WE SURE SHOWED ARNOLD... as we watch Bustamonte sworn in to office.
Headline: STUPID PARTY STRIKES AGAIN
When Republicans unite, Republicans WIN. When Republicans are divided, democRATS win.
We can win this one....

Yes but I don't know that I would rather have Jeffords over Gore as governor of NH.

Give it a rest.
I ignore both polls and megalomaniacs.

Are you saying that, in hindsight, you would vote for Carter over Ford in 1976?What I am saying is that I vote my conscience, regardless of the possible outcome. If a candidate does not espouse my views, or work to build a society founded on the principles I hold, I do not vote for that candidate, regardless of who wins. I will not hold my nose and vote for a candidate just because I'm *AFFRAID* somebody "worse" might win. Fear is a poor political advisor. Of course I probably would have voted for Ford over Carter (or sat out), but I certainly would have voted for Reagan in the primary. Tell me, if a candidate arose who was, as someone on one of these threads described, "the second coming of Reagan", and challenged Bush in the primary, would you still vote for Bush?

I have just one comment: Tom, remember what has happened to Bob Smith, R. NH ... Bob Smith who?

How very SANE of you. You started it.
And you can't admit that you were wrong. Instead you have to say insulting things like "You're out of your depth".
Fact: Bush has not endorsed anyone in the California Governor's race.
Fact: Simon didn't endorse Arnold until after your post saying that he already had.
Just because you can't deal with the facts, such as the fact that you're supporting a liberal, doesn't mean that I am out of my depth. It is clearly you that has lost all touch with reality.

There comes a time when you have to do what is right not what is expected. Bush and others are watching this, they need to know that they cant expect the conservative vote unless they start to reflect conservative principles in their policy making. No more racist affirmative action, minimize our dealings with the UN, stop illegal immigration, kick out the illegals here, and fine the companies that hire them. Its time to make a stand and grow some balls.

That is increadibly short sighted and selfish. Some things need to be taken incrementaly like stopping abortion. The gov in CA needs to be taken in one big step otherwise CA is on a one way trip to becoming part of Mexico.

If McClintock dropped out of the race, there would be no true conservatives left in the race for governor.
Did anyone catch Arnold, on the subject of extending medical services to the children of illegal immigrants? He not only endorsed the idea, but said he would extend the California's free medical program to the 60 or 80% that are not signed up now. Can someone explain how increasing government social programs like this is going to improve our budget woes? Give me a break!
McClintock was the ONLY candidate that said he would not extend such services to illigal immigrants. Sounds a bit harsh to some, but the reality is that once these services are cut off, the illegal immigrants would take their ill children where they could receive medical care ... back home.
If McClintock drops from the race, there is no reason for a recall election. We would just have more of the same.

Who is Dale Carnegie? Dont you think that is a little outdated? How to win friends and influence people was written some time ago and quite frankly doesn't hold up in todays political and media environment. Carnegie wrote it when this country still valued morals and ethics - those times are gone. Its time to play the hand we have been dealt and it calls for warfare with the libs and dems on their ground with their game, if we want to win we had better start playing with their rules because nice guys apparently finish last (e.g. Clinton and almost Gore).

I agree with you, dirtboy.
I was hot for Arnold, but after watching the debate I'm not sure.
McClintock was the only one to offer solutions. I still don't know what the hell Arnie or the others would do.
Why not have a Free Republic vote, then all of us vote as a block on who wins here?
To: sasafras
That is increadibly short sighted and selfish. Some things need to be taken incrementaly like stopping abortion. Good point. The skinny end of the wedge is the part that goes in first. Getting a woodscrew started can be tough; but once you've got the first threads in you can take the rest with ease. When a snake swallows a rat, it starts at the head. How many further analogies does it take to burst the bubble of your incomprehension?

I hope everyone else does the same to save this State from a racist. <<
Yeah, gotta make sure Arnold "n-word" Schwartzenegger is elected to save California from Cruz "n-word" Bustamente.
Thank GOODNESS George Ryan (R) was elected Governor of IL or Glenn Poshard (D) would have raised taxes, rubber-stamped Daley's agenda, and destoryed the ILGOP. Oh s***, that's what's happened under George!

Here's a novel idea. How about just letting the people of California themselves decide for whom they'd like to vote?
To: Agnes Heep
My first thought was so jump all over your logic but I realized I don't know how you came to your conclusion. I feel I have principles as well and am grateful for a ban on partial birth abortions. Do you think if we give in to only this type then it will make it more difficult to ban other abortions? I'm asking because you are the first person I have ever heard of not wanting a ban on partial birth abortions unless we get them all banned. Just wanted you to explain instead of me assuming.

This campaign seems to be heading down the path
I predicted several weeks ago. Now all that remains is for McClintock to remain in the race until the Democrats drop their nuclear dirt. I'm willing to let it go until Monday.
On Monday, I would expect McClintock to announce that he is suspending campaigning and supporting Schwarzenegger, barring unforeseen events. If something happens to Schwarzenegger in the remaining days, then McClintock can get back in the race.
