We did not receive any awards (at ACMs) and during the ceremony, we were booed. That says everything." Yes it does.

The Dixie Chicks will end up like their fellow anti-American "country" act, Steve Earle (he of "John Walker's Blues").
Earle turned his back on country and now gets some play on NPR but that's about it.
They'll be a cult band...if they're lucky.

I think you hit it when you said that their statements and criticisms are juvenile. Natalie Maines didn't say that she disagreed with President Bush's policies on Iraq, she said she was ashamed of him, on foreign soil no less. They also denounced the awesome country song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" (a must-listen song for any Freeper) because the song dared to be politically incorrect. While they have a right to their opinions, they, as public figures, have a responsibility to voice them in intelligent statements, not brainless name-calling. In spite of their talent and beauty, the Dixie Chicks got exactly what they deserved.

Earle is too worried about killers on death row to think about music. Like there was a music career to think about

From the article.
It would be a shame if the Dixie Chicks decided that instead of being Loretta Lynn, they'd rather be Michael Moore.
They have made that decision. They are Piggy Moore.
I'm not a country music fan, and if I ever heard the ditzy chickenguts it was by accident.
That said, I don't care if they were the hottest Rock band since Ted Nugent quit recording.
They are anethema, beyond the pale, stupid beyond belief, and I would not pay one penny to hear them.

Don't they have Iranian (muslim) husbands?

The first, and kindest, is that they're simply sore losers.
"In the Spiegel interview Maguire says, "We had in the United States this year the most successful tour in country music, the best selling album, as well. The song 'Travelin' Soldier' was at the top of the Billboard charts. Nevertheless, for the next country music awards, we were only nominated (for the CMAs) in two categories. We did not receive any awards (at ACMs) and during the ceremony, we were booed. That says everything."It certainly does.
The problem here is that these morons don't get it. And I've got worse news for this band: y'all ain't gonna fly in rock and roll either. Everyone's figured y'all out, Natalie.

They were booed at the CMA awards. Is that were Maines was broadcast wearing the F.U.T.K. t-shirt? It seems a far stretch that they can't comprehend why they are disliked.

"And while no right-thinking person would question their patriotism, it is off-putting that every time the Dixie Chicks have a pronouncement to make about American politics, they make it from Europe. It's when they get in trouble that they come home to pout."
I guess I am not a right thinking American, I question the hell out of their patriotism especially Natalie Maines, the one married to the raghead.

Being from Dallas I liked the Dixie chicks from the beginning. I liked their music and their looks. I liked the first singer better than Nattalie Maines, though. I was happy for their success.
Then came the "announcement". My change of heart was immediate. It reminded me of an 11 or 12 year old boy having his first chrush. He was madly in love with a pretty blue eyed blonde. Then one day he looked around and spied her with her finger in her nose, which she then plopped into her mouth. Life changed in a flash. Not only was the crush gone but he could hardly look at her without almost gagging. That is the way I now feel about the Chicks.

This week VH1 has a 30 minute dixie chicks music/backstage segment in rotation...I've dodged it twice in three days. So, it seems that the "mainstream" music "progressives" are out to try to find them a new audience already...

Put a fork in them. They're done. They have absolutely nobody to blame but themselves.
Here's an idea. When you're a hot MUSIC act, why not stick to MUSIC and stay out of politics?
They sold millions of music CD's - not books on politics.
Part of the problem with these big acts is they are surrounded by people who tell them they walk on water not matter how stupid they act or talk.
People in the real world are not as forgiving.

I kind of liked these chicks when they first came out. They were playing accoustic style traditional country music and Natalie had quite a vocal range. But they really need to be overly medicated on prozac and put in an asylum to spare us from their "tantrum" like outbursts.

They'll open for the Indigo Girls.

I would suggest buying a CD of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", can't be beat for the REAL thing. The Chicks were just another group of copy-catters. I know, we all like a frest take on an old theme...
