Thanks for the ping, FTH. Great post! Isabel was definitely a Democrat, no doubt. LOL!
My Isabel story is that I was in The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia and there was no earthquake!
I am glad that our FReeper Family survived Isabel without any major injuries or problems, and that we can now laugh about it.
Eagles Up!

Hello-
My Isabel story isn't as bad as I was afraid it was going to be. Mr. iceskater did a lot around the house to prepare before the storm hit. We lost power around 9pm on Thursday. We lost water Thursday night also. We got the water back on Saturday. Thank heavens we have a gas water heater so we could at least take warm showers. We just got our power back yesterday.
My house is surrounded by trees and we didn't lose one single tree. It really was a miracle. I fully expected to lose a few and not one came down! Lots of branches and leaves all over the place but no severe damage at all. In fact, there really weren't that many trees down in our neighborhood at all. Some people weren't so lucky - one neighbor had a tree fall across the driveway and took out both cars. But in general, it wasn't too bad. No injuries or deaths that I know about.
The power thing was the most frustrating. We will be investing in a generator (this isn't the first time we've lost power like this). I will be writing letters to Dominion Power, the State Corporation Commission and members of the legislature. I had to throw away almost all of my food in the fridge and freezer. That was so frustrating. We did some cook-outs and fed a bunch of people rather than have it all go totally to waste. But even with that, we threw away hundreds of dollars worth of food. I went to the grocery store last night - I've never seen the shelves so bare. Everyone is in the same boat.
My family was all ok. One sister and her family still don't have power but everyone else is back online.
We had a bad storm roll through this morning about 5am. The rain was torential and there were 2 tornados in the Richmond area. We had more mud from the rain this morning than from the hurricane. The poor guy across the street lost half of his driveway this morning.
But after it's all said and done, it really could've been so much worse. So, I can't complain too much. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Your "Top Ten" is a hoot! Thank you for more of an update on the storm in your area than I received from my own daughter. :-(
She and my s-i-l live in Fairfax VA and my daughter commutes to Georgetown to work. I know they had electricity the day after because I received an email from my s-i-l about some headhunter info I had requested. Not a word about the storm or what they had to go through! Sheesh.
I had called them the night before the storm made landfall and made my s-i-l promise not to let my hard-headed daughter go to work. I was glad the next day when I heard that DC had "shut down."
Great job on the graphics. I *love* your style!

Great presentation, FreeTheHostages.
Top 10 list, LOL. We fared well here in New York. Some winds, very little rain.
Thoughts are with those who suffered from the wrath of Isabel.

Free, this is a great post! I just love how your colorful personality comes through in your backgrounds and borders. You make me smile. :-)
And, your "top ten" are great! Especially this one....
9. The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit didn't try to stop it. LOL.
There is something about a storm, isn't there? Of course, not one that does property damage or takes lives....but, I think there is something exciting about a good rip-roaring storm. Maybe it's just me. I live in an area where we don't get many exciting storms.......we are lucky to get any rain at all between May and the end of October.
But, I know, for those in Isabel's path, the damage was extensive, and I am so very thankful that this hurricane wasn't any worse than she was.

Hello sistahs and FRiends. Hugs all around!

Good article, but FTH, why is there a headless man in the picture of your street standing by the car in a grey shirt?
