The GOP congressman whose money put the recall on the ballot urged Republicans Monday to keep Democratic Gov. Gray Davis in office if neither Arnold Schwarzenegger nor Tom McClintock pulls out of the race by election day.

"If two major Republicans remain on the ballot, I'd advise you to vote 'no' on the recall," said Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista (San Diego County), who spent more than $1.6 million of his own money to help gather signatures to recall Davis.

California RINOs have a history.

What you call "hardball" is standard operating procedure by RINOs against conservatives.

And you just revealed yourself for having no idea what you are talking about with this recall.

Dana Rohrabacher is a gentleman, a California Representative... and has a lifetime ACU rating of 96 out of 100.

.

McClintock admits he is a loser and a spoiler:
"Since Arnold Schwarzenegger is the only viable anti-tax candidate on the ballot," said Todd Harris, a spokesman for the actor, "my guess is that this was Congressman Issa's nice way of putting pressure on Sen. McClintock to avoid turning Sacramento over to Cruz Bustamante."

Issa said that McClintock, a strong conservative, has admitted to him that it was unlikely he could win a one-on-one race for governor.

Issa, who started recall, now tells voters to reject it

Lies, damned lies, misrepresentation, and then there's the SF Chronicle.

Issa may have enabled the recall to become more widespread quicker, but is far, truly far from "starting" the recall.
That is an outright lie. Living and working in the Sacramento valley, I have been a spectator and a participant from day one.

My bet he is angling for iron-clad promise of support and mega mega bucks for a run against Boxer.

My bet he is angling for iron-clad promise of support and mega mega bucks for a run against Boxer.

If so, he's playing it dumb. Already half the folks at this forum want to strangle him and wouldn't vote for him.

Who would deserve GOP support more, Darryl Issa who bankrolled the recall and then quickly got out of the way, or Tom McClintock who already has received a percentage of the absentee ballots sent in?

It's obvious that either you didn't read what I posted or you misunderstood it. I'm saying exactly the same thing you are, except not as bluntly.

Question: What happens to the other 13%--who do they vote for? Do you think I was implying these crossover and independent votes were going to go to McClintock! I don't think so!

To put it bluntly McClintock hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of winning this election and Issa's right. If it doesn't appear that we can beat Bustamante then voting no on recall is our only choice.

She's wrong about this election.

She's wrong to think that Schwarzenegger is better than leaving Davis in until the next regular election cycle.

So are you for that matter. She, however, has conservative credentials.

Try actually reading the post before you respond to it. Political debate is much more effective when you do it that way.

But get this...

McClintock's political stands would also mark him in good standing with the ACU.

Not Arnold.

However, you still support Arnold...I suppose as long as the governor screwing you over is Republican, y'all are just fine with it.

I give up... If we get Arnold in despite your efforts, you're welcome. If you manage to thwart that and put Cruz into office, enjoy him.

Hey...if you get Arnold...I'll be right there to tell you, "I told you so" 6 months to a year later when there's no longer any doubt.

"If Arnold Schwarzenegger is as strong a candidate as everyone wants us to believe, why is he spending so much time trying to get us out?" he asked.
