[history]
Democrat Carol Moseley Braun, who made history as the first black woman elected to the U.S. Senate, formally launched her long-shot bid for the presidency yesterday, vowing to "fix the mess" created by the Bush administration.
Mrs. Braun faces nine other Democratic candidates — all men who, for the most part, have raised more money and are beating her in the polls. Nevertheless, she is forging ahead with her campaign, saying that as a former ambassador, senator and local government official she is uniquely qualified to be president.

I've always said that Gilette or Wilkinson or even Schick should have run for public office at some point.
Well, too late for them, but at least now we have Braun.

...vowing to ''fix the mess''... Mess o'what? Catfish? Collards?
Her press people have never said ANYTHING about her being a good cook, so this is surprising.

The NOW NAGs endorsed her cause she's against domesticity as much as she's for abortion on demand. Go figure.

If ever there were a parody, a la Shaw's ''Pygmalion'' in some sense, of a COMPLETELY dumb and corrupt c*nt having come to life and entered politics, it would be she.
There is usually at least one redeeming factor (h*ll, usually several) for any person on the planet, but, based on this alleged human's public behaviour, she would appear to be the exception -- even beyond Hitlery (a pretty remarkable thing when you consider it, eh?).

Finally a candidate we can get behind in a big way. Or was that the candidate that we need to get out of the way of because of the big behind? I always get those two mixed up.

I'm confused. Exactly how many times are Democrats allowed to "offically announce" their candadicy?
I pretty much thought once the paperwork was turned in to be on the ballots (but of course, we never read stories about any of the 9 dwarfs, now 10, and their progress in getting on each state ballot for 2004), you were "in".
I love the "exploratory" committees. It's like "I'm thinking about thinking about running". Then, my favorite, "I absolutely will not seek the presidency in 2004" that turns into, "well, at the time I made that statement I didn't know how bad Bush has made things (translation: I didn't think I could win back then or raise enough money, but now I've suckered some morons into giving me cash)".
