Democrats who may just be out of power in California shortly, know the power of Free Republic.
Florida is a prime example. I think it has something do with the California recall that has them in a tizzy. In typical fashion, democrats in disguise as public officials went too far. The left is losing it because they have no values and no power. That means they have ZIP.

Just saw the six o'clock report where the (channel 47) reporter said again that this suit could cost the Fresno taxpayers over a million dollars. It was also reported that the attorney said this could "all go away with a retraction and an apology".And, hopefully, a firing!

Excellent. I hope the HRC is abolished as a result.

Glad to see this! Let us know if a legal fee fundraiser will help?
I guess they'll soon figure out they picked on the wrong bunch of Americans ;-)

You have likely seen
this already, but I got a good chuckle out of it nonetheless...
E-Mail Controversy
Fresno city council members are catching heat for e-mails that joke of violence and terrorist acts against liberals and members of a city commission. The e-mails were actually written while council was in session.
Councilmember Jerry Duncan wrote in one, "If I had one dirty bomb ... I could eliminate all the liberals in Fresno at once."
Duncan refused to comment, but he did issue a written apology, adding the e-mail was "not" a serious statement.
A paid assistant to councilmember Brian Calhoun joked Fresno police could shoot members of the Human Relations Commission.
Cary Catalano, from the Human Relations Commision, is conerned, "Are we going to promote hate? Are we going to promote that it's not all right to have a difference of opinion? I am personally offended that a councilmember would basically say all liberals need to go. I am a Democrat ... and I am proud to be one."
Members of the Human Relations Commission took their complaints to the Fresno Police Department, which declined to get involved, citing a conflict of interest.
The e-mails have been forwarded to the FBI.

Good luck Jim. Personally, I regard all this libel and slander against Free Republic by the City Of Fresno's Human Rights Commission as a conservative badge of honor. When the Left is reduced to name calling, rest assured they have nothing worthy to say. What Martha Reyes et al. have dome is rather childish. If it were up to me, I'd give them a well deserved spanking than serve them up with a lawsuit. As I figure, why give their unwarranted claims a hearing in a serious forum? Just my 2 cents on all this.

I truly had no idea y'all were facing this kind of attack! I'm so sorry! It's just disgusting and frightening, too, 'cuz I think it's only going to get worse. We all sort of think it could too, but this is the right thing to do.
To be honest, my hubby and I have considered leaving California, but this is home, and it is a beautiful state. Present circumstances aside, we live in a rather conservative area of the state!

I belong to a so-called "minority" group and I've yet to receive any HATE from this site. (Are y'all discriminating against me 'cause I am a "furiner?")
Oh please allow me!
"You are a waste of flesh. You have no rhythm. You are ridiculous and obnoxious. You are the moral equivalent of a leech. You are a living emptiness, a meaningless void. You are sour and senile. You are a disease, you puerile, one-handed, slack-jawed, drooling, meatslapper. On a good day you're a half-wit. You remind me of drool."
There! :-)

As I understand it, if employees of the City engage in criminal conduct they are exempt from civil service protections and can be held personally liable for their actions. I don't quite recall the U.S. Supreme Court case, but to paraphrase, "It can never be within duties of a public official to commit a crime."
To: Mama_Bear
Is she not calling us a threat to the community, just as the HRC did? Yes she is, in no uncertain terms! Let's not forget that we are also anti-emigrants and minorities according to the HRC press release. Compare that to the link we were provided with about Ms. Sterling. Hmmm.

And, hopefully, a firing! Yes, one would hope.
If City Councilperson Sterling's position is any indication of the feelings of the other members of the Fresno City Council and the HRC, it would appear that the Council is closing ranks around the HRC. And, in that case, I don't expect an apology or a firing to happen any time soon. They will protect their own. I hope I am wrong.

I am guessing you are going to have to prove the woman's stupid comments caused actual financial damage Not true when the defamation was with 'malice'. Depending on whether Jim Rob is considered a 'public person', malice may not even have to be established.

Anyone have a copy of the document calling us a hate group. I'd like to read it too......
