Harley Sorensen: The meaning of 'remove' (Arafat is a modern day Lincoln)
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Monday, September 22, 2003 | Harley Sorensen

"The world will little note nor long remember what we say here," he said at Gettysburg, "but it can never forget what they did here."

I contend the reverse is true. We remember Lincoln's famous speech, but we've forgotten the battle that inspired it. We know more of the words than of the deeds.

Uri Avnery, an Israeli writer and war hero, is one of my favorite people.

This line alone wins this article a TRIPLE-BAGGER BARF ALERT!!!!

"moderate Palestinians"

Now there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one. A moderate Palestinian is a suicide bomber who kills fewer than ten Israelis.

For a better look at what a truely wonderful person Uncle Yassir really is, check out the op-ed piece written by his Romanian KGB handler. It appeared in today's Wall Street Journal:

Uri Avnery, an Israeli writer and war hero, is one of my favorite people. He tells the truth and he does so with great clarity and conviction.

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat (C), by Israeli peace activists Latif Dori (L) and Uri Averny (R), smiles during a rally in his headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah, September 13, 2003. Israel rebuffed Saturday a U.N. Security Council warning not to go through with its threat to exile Arafat, saying national security was at stake amid a new wave of suicide bombings. Men like Arafat, like Osama bin Laden, like Saddam Hussein, are greatly admired on "the Arab street" primarily because they stand up to the West, and particularly to the Americans.

And what do two of these three men have in common?

Arafat says he wants to be a martyr. Let's accomodate him. There's an interesting thing about martyrs: They're all dead.

I contend the reverse is true. We remember Lincoln's famous speech, but we've forgotten the battle that inspired it. We know more of the words than of the deeds.

the word "remove" has sinister implications.

The person who made these comments is the one who should be viewed as having sinister motives.

I am going to possibly have to remove myself from posts that actually treat the author of this effing garbage with any relevance. What an Ahole

Perhaps I am an exception, but I have not forgotten the battle. I have been to the Gettysburg battlefield, and I have contemplated the lives and hearts of the persons who died there for cause.

The retard who wrote this article, is cruising for a bruisng. I despise him/her for making me want to resort to violence.

It was also pointed out in yesterday's WSJ that, thanks to numerous kickbacks and subsidies, Uncle Yassir is one of the five richest "heads of state" in the world. Sorry for piling on.
