Okay here it is in a nutshell.
The big money came from George W. Bush's Great-Grandfather George Herbert Walker. Don't remember exactly how he made his money but it was in St. Louis and then he moved to New York. He was big time money in the league of the Vanderbilt's, J.P. Morgan,E.H. Harriman, etc..
George W. Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, was an investment banker and was a partner in Brown Brothers, Harriman, as in E.H. Harriman and his son Averel Harriman, former Governor of N.Y. and Pamela's last husband.
Prescott was a U.S. Senator from Conn. for one term. George H.W. Bush with his eastern connections, moved to Midland , Texas after the war and got in the Oil Business, set up Zapata Petroleum, first compnay that specialzed in offshore oil drilling. There you have it.

During the election they tried to make a big deal of W Bush finances ...He started an oil business which was not doing well (none were)..he sold it made about a half million, stock went down soon after then within the year the stock went up (what they dont tell you) had he held in longer he would have made a bunch more...The baseball thing was mainly a result of his sales ability and forsight ...He had a small stake in Arlington Texas baseball he built it up ...promoted it and it went way up ...Made $10 mill....

"George W. Bush spent his childhood between the
Bush homes in New York, Long Island and
Connecticut; the family compound at
Kennebunkport, Maine; the 10,000-acre plantation
in South Carolina; and the island retreat in Florida,
where their neighbors were Doubledays, Fords,
Roosevelts and Vanderbilts."

If the neighbors are saying that Prescott was a Nazi you should ask how come his son was almost killed fighting the Nazis...but then I guess they will say that it was part of the cover up..

And don't forget that one of the major "little items" in the closet full of skeletons that the Kenedey's have is the affinity that Papa Joe had for the NAZIs.

But then, he also had some kids that did the right thing...

G. H. Walker (and his sons) ran what ultimately became a sizeable and very profitable stock brokerage and investment banking firm, G. H. Walker & Co. The firm was purchased by White, Weld & Co. in the 1970s. One of the grandsons (perhaps a great-grandson, even) is now CEO of another brokerage here in STL.

From your link:

During his career, Prescott Bush served as director of several nationally known corporations, including the Columbia Broadcasting System, the Wanadium Corporation of America, and Prudential Insurance. For eight years, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the United States Golf Association, serving successively as Secretary, Vice President and President from 1928-1935.

We have had only two HONEST presidents, in my opinion. Abraham Lincoln and Herbert Hoover.

A close family member was friends with the son of Gen. Smedley Butler (two-time Medal-of-Honor winner and one of the most famous Marines ever). On one occasion he heard Gen. Butler accuse Herbert Hoover of cowardice during the Boxer Rebellion in China. Apparently he had encountered Hoover when the latter crept out from hiding following the shelling of a building they were in.

Anyway good luck and let me know if you like anything you believe, or believe anything you like.

There is some horror in the money he made investing in baseball. He lobbied the city to have a 0.5% sales tax increase to subsidize the stadium. Of course, after this occured, the profitability of his investment shot up, and he sold his share for $50 million. This has always irritated me a bit.
