GHWB = Zapata Petroleum. With some help in getting his stake from his uncle as I recall. He was partenered with the Lidke brothers who then went on to take over Penzoil in the early 60's. GHWB sold out and went into public service.

In short, he made it the old-fashioned way. Family money and a lot of hustle/smarts on his part.

And, oh I forgot. If anybody thinks the fix was in, GHWB and the Lidkes were wildcatting and bet the ranch on the deal in west Texas that came through.

Don't forget that the Court of St. James tossed Old Man Joe Kennedy out of England when he was FDR's Ambassador for his pro NAZI stance.

It was quietly done of course with FDR recalling him for consultation and not returning him.

This was done before Germany invaded Poland and really got the war started.

during the banking years of Bush Greatgrandfather
and Grandfather.

I guess what your neighbor is mentioning is
the business the Bushes did with a
Dutch front bank that was really a Nazi
bank for directing investment overseas to Germany
without exposing the fact people were financing
the Nazis.

Also, the Grandfather and Greatfather were big
supports of the Eugenics Society and the Birth
Control League which became Planned Parenthood.

The Grandfather was actually very much a liberal
Republican who was defeated by Christopher Dodd's
dad back in the 50s and one the ways he did
it was bringing up his support for the Eugenics
Society. He right to the right of the Grandfather.


No one conservative could possibly like the Grandfather.

Acutally, you shouldn't move, you should have your child exorcised (becaused only the Lord knows what else they might have told him) and then force your neighbors to move. We have been pushed around for far too long: out of the cities, out of the countryside, out of everything we love. Time to fight back, and this is just one more battle.

Incidentally, just because someone makes money through business and politics often means they did the right thing; it is a minority (like the Kennedys) that ruin it for everyone.
