I am asking for some help and direction to get some wheels turning. My girlfriend went on line at the library. Right next to her sat 2 10 year old boys. She glanzed at their screen and noticed they were looking at Hard core Pornagraphy on the Web. She got up and told the Librarian about it. The Librarian said "there is nothing we can do" That is their right" "we cannot say anything about what they choose to look at "
Ok so now you tell me that as an adult woman , I can get a ticket for driving without my seat belt on...IT'S The LAW!! they say.
I recall listening to the story about how Ted Bundy himself says he got started raping and killing women. He said it started with looking at pornagraphy . THEN needing a bigger thrill. It got Progressive.
The funny part is that Gov. Blagojevich is pulling all these orphan kids and runaways out of MaryVille Academy because he is worried about their welfare. WELL hello GOV!!What about the kids you can save from getting in trouble! Why are these kids watching Porno on my tax dollars. Why is ANYONE watching Porn at the Library on my tax dollars? Shouldn't they have to pay a "sin" tax?
Ok now for advice from all you wonderful Freepers out there. Are your kids at the Library on the internet watching porn is my first question?
Next how can we continue to bring this to the public/parents attention? How can we get Libraries to use filters. Question..Could a parent sue the library if they found out their kid was on line watch it? I am wondering?
Parents will be in hot water if their kids decide to act out and sexual abuse another small child.
Your suggestions Please.....................

I recall listening to the story about how Ted Bundy himself says he got started raping and killing women. He said it started with looking at pornagraphy . THEN needing a bigger thrill. It got Progressive. I've been viewing pornography for several years now. When do you think I will begin to commit murder?

WHERE have YOU been.....?? This has been happening since the ALA (American Library Association) says it's a "free speech" issue. (Some years back - Dr. Laura was onto them.) You have to work through your county library people to get filters installed (and used). Personally I'd be watching those kids, and when their parents came in, I'd inform the parents of what's been going on. Let the parents take it from there....but, it is SICK isn't it.

Call the local newspaper and television news. Also call the local police and ask them if any laws are being broken (many places have laws against corrupting the morals of minors). I'm sure that someone in your community will care if you bother to make enough noise. Expect to take heat from the perverts if you do, though. They are after the children and want to corrupt them.

Chicago Library ping!

This is a nationwide issue. The American Library Association has been steadfast in saying it is a free speech issue. And you thought librarians were prim and proper!

You should have asked the kids if their mothers new what they were looking at, in a calm quiet disgusted way. And then told them you would wait around till their parents arrived and tell them what was going on. If the kids acted like smart alecks , like they didn`t care, then you could bet their parents probably don`t care either.

Make enough noise and lead a boycott of the library. Convince people to keep their children out of the library. Picket in front of the library to call attention to what is going on. Why do we even need libraries any more? You can buy used books very cheap on the internet, and you can do research on the internet. So let's tell the libraries to clean up or close up.

When I was in school, the prevailing rule was that minors were not included 100% in the bill of rights. The bill of rights protections were only for adults, in their entirety. This really pi$$e$ me off. When did kids get the right to free speech? Who can I sue for these past wrongs?

Gee, the worst we did was look up all the dirty words in the dictionary. Stunned to find the word "bit** in the dictionary. Disappointed with the meaning.
Ah, the life of a 10 year old in the 50's. How I wish it was the same for my little grandchildren.

I noticed a while ago that almost all librarians (not ALL, but most!) are HARDCORE liberals. They form a big loud lobby to prevent what they call censorship - meaning removing pornography viewing from library computers, or pornography from libraries. About 7 or 8 years ago I was in the library in Eugene, OR when I noticed a book out of place - stuck in sideways. I pulled it out automatically, and opened it up. I read about 5 seconds of the most vile pornography - (I was about to say, that I have ever read, but I have never read it anyway!) It was graphic, violent, and ultra descriptive. I was horrified and felt filthy and sick. I knew that some kid had been reading it and put it there to hide it.
People have made a sacred cow of "free speech" - meaning that everyone should have free access to the most graphic sexually explicit and degrading junk any perverted mind can invent. This is not what the founders of this country meant by freedom of speech. The liberals and liberal-tarians next arguement is that such junk doesn't affect them (or supposedly, kids). That is a false argument. If watching, reading or listening to junk didn't affect peoples' minds and consciousness, then the entire advertising industry would be wasting billions of dollars. Of course what a person reads, sees or hears affects their mind.
My solution is to have private libraries - people with wealth, or books, donate to private libraries. The libraries can charge fees - even sliding scale for poor folks. People can donate old books. Then whoever runs it can decide if books are appropriate or not. I'd love one like that. I hate seeing all the liberal crap in libraries. Then there could be libraries parents aren't afraid to have their kids visit.
