Arnold Schwarzenegger released the following statement today regarding the legislature and governors neglect of Californias Megans Law, which allows for public access to information about registered sex offenders in their community.
I am upset that the legislature would adjourn and leave Sacramento without renewing the publics right to have access to the Megans Law registry of sex offenders.
Megans Law has been a tremendous tool for parents to keep their children safe, secure and away from predators. I endorse Assembly Minority Leader Dave Coxs call that the governor immediately reconvene the legislature to extend Megans Law.
If Gray Davis and the legislative leadership fail to act upon Mr. Coxs request, then I assure all Californians that upon taking office, I will call the legislature back into session to reinstate the publics access to Megans Law. We should be moving forward in our commitment to keep children safe not retreating.

How would you know? You don't know jack about Arnold. You didn't even know he said he wouldn't raise taxes as part of the fiscal fix? This was in his first press conference and you can't even find the transcript for that.
Gosh darn if I don't fear a relapse coming.

Hey Saundra, you can believe what Roscoe tells you, its okay.

Well, "Reagan's law" applies to Megan's Law, here.
As for the squealy ones,
the good that they would,
they do not.....especially if Arnold agrees.

Standing up for Megan's law - wow this takes a lot of guts. But Arnold won't join the referendum drive to repeal the illegals' drivers-license law. I guess his courage only goes so far.
To: churchillbuff
He wasn't invited on board... as you full well know.

Buying aside,
for whom would you vote if, on Oct. 7, polls that you trust show Recall passing easily, and: Arnold 30%, Cruz 30%, McClintock 19%?
My answer is Arnold. If MClintock had at least, say, 28% -- bear in mind this is a poll I trust -- maybe I'd go for him, for after all he's my first choice here.

She already voted, just in case she'd been tempted to change her vote. Is that too cool, or what?

I resent Arnold grandstanding and exploiting this issue
Waitaminit. Why is it improper (you say) for Arnold to call attention to his stance in favor of extending Megan's Law ... but it's proper (I presume you would say) and NOT grandstanding for McClintock to get out in front on the car tax and illegals' licenses issues? I think all three measures proposed by those two guys are good ideas. Either they're both grandstanding or neither is.

Davis won't sign this. Kids don't vote so there is no need to pander to that group. He did, however, give his permission for ILLEGALS to be winked at when they get their drivers license because of their votes.

I'm not adjudging everyone who's already voted for McClintock to be some nutball. Some are, for example, not only bitterly opposed to abortion (most on FR are), but also opposed conscientiously to HAVING VOTED FOR someone who isn't really anti-abortion on policy issues. I think they do recognize that such a stance often leads to Davises and Bustamantes, and they're sorry about that effect of it, but they can't vote for someone who's too much of a "compromise" on such a dear issue. I respect this approach even if it very much is NOT mine.
People who've already voted for Schwarzenegger ... well, my first thought is, what if Garry South and Bob Mulholland put out some trash on Arnold on the weekend before the election? Trash that sticks, at least in the eyes of a big chunk of the voters? Bammo.
I may very well have to WALK my ballot in.
If Arnold DOES somehow get trashed, it'll have McClintock punched. Same goes if McClintock makes a big surge. If neither, though, probably for Arnold.

Arnie looks more phony and shallow as each day goes by. McClintock has him whipped. I just hope he has the sense to get out before he makes a complete shambles his political career.

Catchy title but is it accurate?
On Sep 17 Davis calls for the legislature to reconvene to address Megan's Law.
Schwarzenegger's campaign posts a press release to it's web site on the 19th, dated the 17th, which addresses the issues concerning the sunset clause of Megan's law. Fine and well.
But the title of the release implies that the governor has yet to take action, two days after the governor took action. Methinks this has an odor.

Nice cheap shots at Arnold... methinks you should be worrying about your own candidate right now and how he's suddenly best-girl-friends with Cruz ;-)

Took a peek over on your forum.
I can see why you're over on the California forum haranguing the locals.
You can still register to vote in California. Take the time to do that and then we'll listen to your viewpoint with interest.

Not only was my husband born in California and we have a great deal of family there, we do hope to move there one day and sadly turned down a transfer back last year.
BTW, if you don't like out-of-staters commenting on California politics, you might try to stop sending socialists to Congress.
