SACRAMENTO - Indian tribes have eclipsed organized labor to become the top campaign giver in the recall election.
The more than $3.24 million donated by Indian tribes to Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante has caused the most stir. But records show the tribes are now also spreading their wealth to his political opposite, Sen. Tom McClintock, as well as contributing $2 million to an independent committee....

So, is anybody here contemplating voting NO on recall? Just asking. Funny you should ask, I was just contemplating this last night and came up with this conclusion:
If the latest polls (ignoring the LA Slimes poll) going into election day have Bustamante leading the pack of replacement candidates, I will vote NO on the recall.

That's what I'd be thinking if I lived there.
Better to see Davis stew in his own juices than turn the state over to the unfettered mob.

CA: Bill to Seek Voters' Racial Data Signed [by Davis]
Los Angeles Times ^ | 09-18-03 | Nancy Vogel
Posted on 09/18/2003 11:00 AM PDT by Alia
Minority organizations back the law; county election officials oppose it. People will be able to volunteer information when they register.
SACRAMENTO California will join seven other states in gathering race and ethnicity data from voters under a bill signed into law Wednesday by Gov. Gray Davis.
Endorsed by minority organizations but opposed by county elections officials, the law requires that every voter registration form include a space where people can volunteer their race or ethnicity. People who leave the space blank can still register to vote.
Californians may not see the forms for some time, because the law allows counties to use up their existing supply before the secretary of state goes to the expense of printing forms with an additional line....

Schwarzenegger, foes to face 12 queries (Sept. 24th debate questions included)

Sacramento -- The major candidates in the California recall will participate Sept. 24 in an unusual candidates' forum that will be hosted by the California Broadcasters Association. If the recall election is not delayed by the federal courts, it is likely to be the only statewide debate featuring Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger side-by-side with other major candidates.
Unlike a traditional debate, all candidates will know in advance which questions they will be asked, "in order to spur public discussion prior to the debate and initiate a dynamic interaction among candidates," said Stan Statham, president of the association....

SAN FRANCISCO -- Halting the Oct. 7 recall election would negate the votes of nearly 400,000 Californians and waste millions of dollars already spent, state and local elections officials told the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday.
California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley, joined by county registrars of voters in Los Angeles and Sacramento, urged the court to reconsider a decision by a three-judge panel that would put the election off until March....

The Hispanic population is growing more than four times faster than the white population in the Northern San Joaquin Valley, just-released census figures show. The area's Asian and black populations also are expanding at a faster pace than whites, and so-called "minorities" already are the majority in Merced and San Joaquin counties....

CA: Race Card Is the Sign of a Losing Hand

Opposition to Proposition 54 promotes a 'victim' culture.
By Shelby Steele, Shelby Steele is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.
The arguments against Proposition 54 the state initiative that would spare Californians the indignity of declaring their race on state forms and applications bring to mind the joke about the man driven to his roof by rising floodwaters. A rowboat comes to rescue him but he turns it down. "God will save me," he says. A helicopter and a speedboat come next but he turns them down as well. "God will save me," he keeps saying. Finally the waters overwhelm him and he drowns. When he gets to heaven, he is outraged. "God, why didn't you save me?" God glares down at him. "You fool, I sent two boats and a helicopter. What more do you want?" ....

Since the majority in Kalifornistan favor replacing liberal Davis with another EQUALLY LIBERAL person, I would strongly lean towards voting NO on recall.
NO on recall.
YES on McClintock.

"Recall Politics Dominate the California Republican Party Convention"
ChronWatch ^ | Sept. 17, 2003 | Cinnamon Stillwell
Posted on 09/18/2003 2:42 PM PDT by FairOpinion
California Republicans converged upon the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel last weekend for the California Republican Party Convention. According to regular attendees, this convention was the biggest one in years, and by far the most exciting. No doubt the upcoming recall election was the main draw, because it dominated conversation. The convention took on historical significance, both for the Republican Party and for California, because of the split in the party between supporters of candidates Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom McClintock. If the vote remains divided, Republicans could lose the election, should Gray Davis be recalled....

Cruzs Plan to Divide and Conquer the GOP

The following is but a portion of Cruz Bustamante's plan:
McClintock phone calls to Republicans."
The phone calls that have been received by Republicans throughout the State bashing Arnold were not put out by the McClintock campaign. The end message of the pre-recorded phone call says that it was paid for by the California Republican Assembly Independent Expenditure Committee. The attack ad against Arnold Schwarzenegger was a poorly conceived attempt by the CRA to help Tom McClintock. Even my own wife thought she would not want to vote for McClintock because of his attack on Arnold....
