I use a combination of

ISABEL: wind band

and

ISABEL: wind field

The first shows me how close I am to the red area and the second shows me wind direction within my area.

Sorry for piling on neighbor, I couldn't resist.

You had "victim" written all over your face.

When you open up that NC link you will see Hoke County. I am in Hoke county bordering Moore. My roof in the living room is now leaking a substantial amount of water. It is a new roof to boot. Crap!

Got any good Aggie jokes? :-) I went to NCSU and the Aggie jokes are interchangeable with NCSU jokes...

Great story. Obviously you didn't "fit in". You had a brain.

RMOAS. When I was in basic training, we hiked to a training area with full packs, including gas masks. The DIs had us all sit (make your buddy smile mode) in a dirt parking lot, while they demonstrated different colored smoke grenades.

They would pop a red grenade taped to a stick, and walk back and forth upwind of the Company saying, "Now this is what red smoke looks like." Then they went to yellow, then green.

When they thought they had lulled everybody into a coma, they popped one with grey smoke. It was CS.

I have never seen 150 people jump instantaneously from a sitting position to 8 ft. high before, but everyone did. When their feet hit the ground again, they ran in all directions like stampeded cattle.

Everybody, that is, but me. When I got a whiff of the CS, I calmly reached down and donned my gas mask, exhaled to clear the mask, and continued to sit there breathing nice, fresh air.

I didn't fit in, either.

Even better was Brian Wilson on the Mall in DC with his 'high-tech wind guage', the FedGov shut and winds of "Oooh...Nine...now ten miles per hour!". LOL!

$65M to pay for the shutdown on account of a rainy day.

(In search of a witty tag line...)

For tonight, the wittiest tagline might be where you live. ;-)

The power went off again a couple of hours ago and stayed off for about an hour. I shut the computer off for awhile. It's still windy here. As you know, I'm closer to Goldsboro, and they say the winds are pretty high there. I thought the winds were dying down here, but apparently not...although there seems to be more gaps in the gusts.

My poor weeping cherry tree isn't faring too well. It's loose in the ground, and I fear it'll be knocked over at some point. Hopefully, it will only be uprooted, and maybe we can replant it if that happens.

I lost an azalea--well, half of an azalea broke off. Hopefully the other half will stay alive.

I've seen a few shingles blowing around. I hope they're not mine.

Over here in W. NC, it was sunny and 80 degrees all day. The only indication of anything brewing was that the barometer has dropped from 28.5 to 28.1 during the day - very low readings.

We have some high clouds, now, but that's about it.

I live just to the west of Front Royal on the east slope of the Massanutten. So far so good, just 0.70 inches of rain in 4 hours. North winds 20, gusts 35. Cable modem still works!

Rain is falling at 1/2" an hour, with sustained winds at 25-35 MPH here at UMCP. According to my Weather Bug.

An Aggie cameraman would've been updating it a little more often....this one hasn't been updated since 12:41pm. Where's the Hokie dedication?
