ATF Night Hosted by California Assembly Nominee John Brantuk Telephone: (562) 698-2870 email: John.W.Brantuk@BrantukForAssembly.org www.BrantukForAssembly.org
What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.
Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly ( see www.BrantukForAssembly.org )
You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome. And admission is always free.
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| "1ST DEBATE" - from the San Francisco Chronicle 09/04/2003 On many of the issues Wednesday night, McClintock stood alone. He opposed abortion, vowed never to raise taxes and called for fewer restrictions on gun ownership, since "people have a fundamental right to defend themselves from violent predators."
His strong conservative stances likely won him some votes, possibly at the expense of more moderate Republicans such as Schwarzenegger and Ueberroth.
Republican analyst Tony Quinn said McClintock stood out from the pack of other hopefuls.
"Arnold's problem is they've got to get rid of McClintock -- and this hurt him," he said. "This gave McClintock the attention he won't get otherwise."
Pollster Mervyn Field agreed. "Arnold was hurt tonight," he said. "The question was: If he'd have been here, would he have been hurt more?"
"McClintock was forceful, and remarkable in his contrasts on positions" from the others.

Acutally, ATF night is always a blast. It's a pro-2A gathering, but I see the whole Arnie/Tom thing will cause this thread to degenerate into insults.

God in Politics
Daniel and Joseph both held political roles and both stood firm against
personal compromise. However, there is a distinction between personal
and political compromise. Day to day politics cannot be conducted without
some form of compromise being involved. People living in a society as
complex and diverse as ours will have conflicting interests, and part of the
task of Government - not just of the country but of smaller units such as the
family too - is to reconcile these and promote the common good. Spend
some time discussing the difference between personal and political
compromise:
Personal compromise is about choices we make based on our sense of
morality. One of our principles is to be truthful, and if we cross the moral
boundary and tell a lie, for whatever reason, we have compromised our
personal principles. Daniel and Joseph were both men who found
themselves in positions of political power and yet who were not willing to
compromise their beliefs and lose their integrity, despite the risk of
persecution.
Political compromise has a different emphasis. When we live as part of a
community, we must make choices that benefit the common good. We
make such decisions the whole time, for example in deciding what to have
for a family meal. It is impossible to live as part of a community and not
compromise on a daily basis. Can you think of some other examples where
compromise is necessary? Edmund Burke said: "All government, indeed every
human benefit and enjoyment, every virtue, and every prudent act, is
founded on compromise and barter; we give and take; we remit some
rights, that we may enjoy others."
The issue of coming up against personal compromise may tempt us to
withdraw from society. However, this is not the solution. Instead we need
to play an active role in making sound, value-based decisions that do not
compromise our personal morals, but allow room for common goals to be
achieved.

Many ATF night events are packed. Many people have been coming for years. It's called good food, friends, drinks, and conversation. But, don't let a little ignorance get in your way. BTW, before you start screaming, I am not a Tom supporter, but an ATF night'er.

Acutally, ATF night is always a blast. It's a pro-2A gathering, but I see the whole Arnie/Tom thing will cause this thread to degenerate into insults. As a Life Member of the NRA and a lifelong hunter and outdoorsman, I am 100% in favor of defending the 2A. But it's obvious to any casual observer that Tom Mcclintock is looking to gather support for his failed campaign by attending. For what it's worth, I thank Tom for doing so; but his campaign is still his #1 reason for being there.

Which statement precisely are you asserting is untrue?
Or was that just a reflex bleat?

Long-time Schwarzenegger friend and political co-worker Democrat Bonnie Reiss, who joined his campaign last month, has long been an influential, highly effective leader of Hollywoods left-wing environmentalists, working with Norman Lear before forming her own organization promoting a broadly anti-market, anti-private property political agenda.Ah. So Ms. Reiss is to Schwarzenneger what Lenora Fulani was to Buchanan. Now we know who the "third party divider" REALLY is in this race!

No. But I'd love to attend. Is it, or anything like it ever held in the San Diego area?
You know what I've never quite figured out...
Why is the NRA's annual event never held any further west than Colorado? There are a lot of gunowners and NRA members out here.

This is interesting. The guy holding the ATF event doesn't like career politicians.

No, but if you contact Mr.B., he can tell you how to start up a version of ATF Night, San Diego style. :-)
All you need is a really good restaurant with a BIG banquet area, a good, understanding staff that likes to be tipped an awful lot of dough, and a nice patio to smoke on after the guest speaker and the dinner. :-)
