Gertz: U.S. probe focuses on Syria weapons; Reports say nation has Iraq arms...

The U.S. government is investigating intelligence reports that Iraq sent weapons to Syria to hide them from U.N. inspectors and coalition troops in Iraq, a senior State Department official said yesterday.

John Bolton, the undersecretary of state for arms control, also told a House International Relations subcommittee that Syria is developing medium-range missiles with help from North Korea and Iran that could be fired in nerve gas attacks hundreds of miles from Syria's borders. MORE///

At least now we know what advice Jim McDermott and David Bonior gave Saddam.

Gee, Hans Blix, I am just a simple bookkeeper here in Grass Valley Calif, and I figured that out months ago. Maybe we spent too much time and money on Mr. Blix's "efforts".

Oh, I see . . . so now they're in Syria. Where will they be when they aren't found in Syria?

Let's just get it all over with and do this country a favor -- have the U.S. government announce that Saddam's weapons of mass destruction were moved to California last week.

This was breaking news on DEBKA 15 months ago. Do we believe it?

If Sadaam did this, it is because he wants them used on Israel. Perhaps he hopes for one great revenge, even if from the grave.

DEBKA reported this early this year, and people on FR pooh-poohed it, as Debka is always pooh-poohed here.

More often than not though, they get it right, and get it early.

Debka reported that they traversed Syria, and some ended up in the Bekaa Valley of lebanon to be specific.

Color me cynical, but my guess is that, right before we invade, they will be moved to Iran, which we will have to go to next.

If there are Iraqis who moved the weapons to Syria let them speak or forever hold their peace.

Aren't the 4th Army ID, 2nd Marine, and 101st AF in the area? Why not send them in to investigate? They might turn up something.

Well let's just send in the IDF and Shin Bet to Lebanon (And Syria) to find out what's there...

I tend not to believe anything Gertz comes out with anymore. What was it he had reported, was it that Saddam and all his family and followers had French visas, and then there was some other Gertz's exclusive that has not come to surface as of yet.

Even if so...who the hell is going to believe them after not finding as much as a "thimble" full of WMD within the Iraqi borders, to date?
