Sept. 11 Memorial Flag in Colo. Burned
ASSOCIATED PRESS
FRISCO, Colo. (AP) - An American flag placed atop a mountain peak in a national forest as a memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks was torched, authorities said.
Summit County deputies were investigating a report that a hiker found a note on the 13,589-foot snowcapped summit claiming responsibility for the fire, sheriff's spokeswoman Jill Berman said Monday.
The burned flag was found Sunday.
The FBI was notified because the flag was in the White River National Forest, Berman said.
The flag had been placed on the peak on Thursday, the second anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, replacing a tattered flag that had been there since the first anniversary.
The U.S. Forest Service at first rejected requests to replace the flag on the second anniversary, saying it would be a permanent structure forbidden by Forest Service rules.
After angry residents considered protest petition, the Forest Service relented.
Frisco is 60 miles west of Denver.

This statement belies the underlying problem that allowed such an attack to occur. The freakin' earth first crowd is out of control.

I saw a photo of the flag in question about a week ago here on FR. It needed to be burned anyway.

I hung 2 flags up Thurday morning over the Leesburg bypass. It was very cool. People were waving and blowing their horns while I was hanging them. I'm happy to report they are still there.
I will have to go back and take them down once they get tattered though.
They should find the puke that did this and burn his fingers off with a propane torch.

If they catch the person that did this, they can send him to Iraq for target practice.Although our troops don't need practice, but just for fun and for this persons torture.

The tattered flag was replaced last Thursday. It was the new flag that was burned. I hope they catch that Commie and drill him a new hole.
