Fresno, California's Annual Tailgate Picnic 9/13/03
9/13/03
Posted on 09/13/2003 11:01:31 PM PDT by mtngrl@vrwc
Today was Fresno, California's annual FReeper Tailgate Picnic and we had a wonderful time! I am not sure how many attended today's picnic but would estimate that there were about thirty-five to forty of us who attended.
We caught up with FReepers we hadn't seen in ages, discussed the upcoming recall election, ate fantastic food (including JKPhoto's famous tri-tip), listened to music, watched a tape recording of last night's news where they discussed whether or not FRee Republic was a hate group, and just all around had a fabulous time.
I am going to post just a few pictures that I took today and hope that all who were there will post their pictures if they have any and tell their thoughts about the picnic.
If you were there today, please speak up!

We are, but tri-tip marinate recipes are highly prized bits of info. Just like the "Bush beans" dog is the only one willing to sell the family recipe.
To: Conservababe
#52 covers tri-tip pretty well. It is traditionally served with Santa Maria beans......small pinkish beans that are seasoned with various ingredients such as ground beef, chopped peppers/onion, chili powder, etc.. Tri-tip can now be found in different parts of the country (we can even get it here in the Ozarks).

My family and I had a wonderful time. My husband was very impressed with the tri-tip. He considers him self a tri-tip lover and enjoys new ways to marinate it and BBQ it.
I saw the article in the Fresno Bee this morning and had a hoot. It is very well known that members of the HRC are closely affilated with Peace Fresno and that group knew of the effort to disrupt the rally and picnic. It is also very well known in the city gov't the nature of our rallys. It was a bald face attempt to use the race card to make FR look like a bunch of yahoos, but their plan backfired on them.

Those were good cookies weren't they! I had to limit myself, or there would have been no room for the tri-tip!

I had a Great time out at the picnic. Wow was that tri-tip great!!! were my knots holding the flag up easy to untie? I was a little worried about that since I left early, I didnt want anyone to end up having to climb up to the top of the picnic shelter at 10pm:)
It was great seeing everyone again.

It was great seeing you again, Brat!!
We cut one rope, but the other knots came loose fairly easy. Are you sure you are not a FresnoNavyBrat? LOL
We will need to start planning next year's picnic in a couple of months.
See you at a rally soon. Amy

You did a great job. Mountain girl had a little trouble taking it down, but not nearly as much trouble as you had putting it up.

As Head of the Fresno/Central Vally Chapter, I request your presence. ;-)
LOL I can't ignore a great invitation like that Mama_Bear! Funny, I know about that "odd" voting process, myself. As I recall, I was told to do it :) Our previous chapter leader is rather forceful ;)

He's too modest to tell you but Diamondhead also does a fantastic job with tri-tip.....and Santa Maria beans. 38 posted on 09/14/2003 10:08 AM PDT by Ben Hecks Oh really? I was fortunate enough to get his cookie recipe! I love Santa Maria beans, but don't know how to make them like they do, so maybe I will just have to see if I can fanagle a recipe for those too!

"EXTREMELY VIOLENT:" Well yeah, but that was only fighting over the cookies DiamondHead brought! I think I am eating one in the picture actually, since that was what I did all day! :_)

Worst of all, WE were the ones threatened on that website to begin with!! They are the ones who wanted to cause trouble!!! Liberals twist things constantly don't they? Kinda like how Bush stole the election in Florida!

I skipped right over the article in the paper until you posted this! I was too busy being mad at the huge pictures of Cruz smeared all over the front page! LOL The article is great, tells us who did it, and proves what I thought, it was over that anarchist website who threatened US!!! Funny how they didn't notice that part!

You are a real troublemaker! Luckily the police came by so if you had been there, we could have had you hauled off once and for all! LOL! Actually, sorry you couldn't make it, would have loved to meet you!
