I do believe his staff is failing him on issues like this, but in Schwarzenegger's defense (oh quit groaning), he has had about a month to develop policy and press the flesh. People probably think he should have done more, but by now I'm surprised his head isn't suffering shell shock.

This article has merit. I do think the 5am until midnight schedule these guys get on makes it difficult to accomplish everything we desire. I do think Schwarzenegger should be sharper on certain issues by now.

What is amazing is McClintock is the kind of candidate everybody claims they want to elect. Won't break promises, isn't slick and smooth, doesn't compromise his principles for a special interest buck, etc. So then the dream candidate is here, the one everybody claims they want, and people say "he can't win." Sad, sad, sad, letting the elite media keep brainwashing you into voting for a compelete slickster, the prototype politician you claim you can't stand, and you foam at the mouth for him.

Because they saw the last five years where we were going. They saw the increases in workers compensation. If they would have been out there and listened to what the people are saying, what the businesses are saying, they would have started working on it already two years ago.

He has had his eye on the Gub'ship for years. The fact that he just waltzes in and will now possibly take it on celebrity or policies alone rather than earn it is disconcerting, especially when you consider it may be just his first step to the White house as Orrin Hatch is pushing legislation to let naturalized citizens be able to run for President.

If he and Jeb Bush were in contention for the Repub nomination in 2008, who would win?

That assumes that he does a reasonably decent job in California. Ya never know these days. (sarcasm or is it?) :-o

McClintock on workers comp

I asked Tom McClintock this afternoon the same question I asked Arnold last night: what are you proposing as a reform of workers compensation that the Legislature did not pass this week? I asked McClintock to tell me the single most important proposal in his package that was left out of the legislative reform.

Here was his answer:

“Require clinical verification of physical injuries before we compensate them. Require by some objective medical standard that the injury actually exists. Aches and pains and worries are a part of life and we will bankrupt our economy if we continue to pay people who have them.”
