Farewell
We all know that boy named Sue, And heard that train a comin. We all loved his craggy voice, And the guitar he was strummin. We'll miss ol John but he'll be here, We'll hear him in our hearts. He's gone home to be with June, And now the music starts.

I believe it's time for David Allen Coe to add a verse to "The Ride".
Rest easy Johnny.

Great thread, Flurry.
The man in black was my favorite, and I feel like a close friend has died.
R.I.P., Mr. Cash.

"The man in black" has now switched to a white robe. He'll be strummin' a harp from now on!

Thanks while I wrote it I could hear the horns from Ring of Fire in my head. June co wrote Ring of Fire about her feelings for him. The horns make my hair stand on end.

My name is Sue. How do you do? Now you're gonna die!! ________________________________________________________
Well, if they freed me from this prison, if that railroad train was mine,
I bet I'd move on over a little farther down the line,
Far from Folsom Prison, that's where I want to stay,
And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away.
Looks like he is freed from his prison, and has moved farther down the line.

We just watched 'Hurt' at work... What a haunting, haunting song. He cared so much guilt. God rest his soul.

My mom always likes for me to sing Johnny Cash songs when our family gets together.
I have a pretty deep singing voice and try to do justice to his songs.

I know there's always a tendency to think of more recent things as "the best", but honestly, I think "Hurt" was one of the top 3 Johnny Cash songs ever. You can't help but be moved if you see the video. Once you see the video, you "get" the song.
To: cincinnati65
Exactly. The first time I saw 'Hurt', I was crying at the end. I think he brought more meaning to that song than did Nine Inch Nails.
