I saw him at a Nashville gun show back in the '80's. It was after his heart surgery and we were all waiting to go into one of the buildings. It was raining and he was talking with someone and the only thing I could think about was, here was a guy who was a hero/celebrity getting soaked with the rest of us.
He could have had all the comforts just by asking and there he was looking old, sick and wet.
I asked whether he was into firearms and someone said he had an interest in gun antiquities.
It was my understanding that people who lived in Nashville didn't bother their stars since this was their home and not their stage so I didn't approach him or wave.
