In the book, "Derelection of Duty," Col. Patterson (the author and keeper of the "Political Football") was called three times by Sandy Berger, Clintooon's National Security Advisor, to get the final OK for the military strike.
At the time, Clintooon was at a golf tournament with Vernon Jordan. When Patterson approached Clintooon, he was put off three times, following the three separate phone calls from Berger. Clintooon returned Berger's call the next day.
The mission was cancelled!

Lopez: What most surprised you to learn about the Clinton years and terrorism? Miniter: Three things: 1) That the Sept. 11 attacks were planned in May 1998 in the Khalden Camp in southeastern Afghanistan, according to American and British intelligence officers I interviewed. In other words, the 9/11 attacks were planned on Clinton's watch. 2) The sheer number of bin Laden's attacks on Americans during the Clinton years. 3) And how much senior Clinton-administration officials knew about bin Laden and how little they did about it. - This country has many challenges. We will not deny, we will not ignore, we will not pass along our problems to other Congresses, to other presidents, and other generations. (Applause.) We will confront them with focus and clarity and courage...
Sending Americans into battle is the most profound decision a President can make. The technologies of war have changed; the risks and suffering of war have not. For the brave Americans who bear the risk, no victory is free from sorrow. This nation fights reluctantly, because we know the cost and we dread the days of mourning that always come.
- We seek peace. We strive for peace. And sometimes peace must be defended. A future lived at the mercy of terrible threats is no peace at all. If war is forced upon us, we will fight in a just cause and by just means -- sparing, in every way we can, the innocent. And if war is forced upon us, we will fight with the full force and might of the United States military -- and we will prevail. (Applause.)

"May he and all the trash he brought into the White House burn in hell."
I agree. Clinton was/is one evil SOB, concerned only with feeding his ego and libido. That's almost 3 years of Al Qaeda planning - and killing - on his watch. So many times did he drop the ball that it's starting to smell like an intentional pass. Mere incompetence can't explain a failure of that magnitude. As I read this interview I felt my teeth grinding down to the gum.

it's time to go on the OFFENSIVE against these damn democrats! It will start with the WMD report that will hit in a couple of weeks. Rove has had President Bush playing rope a dope, and the dims have taken the bait, hook line and sinker! Never sell this President short, when he threw his hat in the ring, in his first run for Gov. of Texas, Ma Richards thought she was running against a chump. Now she is only known for her appearances on Larry King Live!! Let the dims rant and rave, in the meantime President Bush is calmly going on with his job. Stark contrast to the previous Prez don't you think.

...will be guesting Monday on Former Congressman BOB DORNAN's National Talk Radio Show.
...Freeper ALOHA RONNIE Guyer ...was on during BOB's 1st hour today discussing all that we had shared together 2 years ago today on his Radio Show during the 1st Hour of the Attacks of September 11, 2001.
...And about how we shared 2 years ago tomorrow about our suddenly learning that the CLINTONS refused 3 Offers from the Sudan during the 1990's to give us OSAMA bin LADEN for Free before he could attack our HomeLand. What was shared 2 years ago about this, and constantly posted on the Web and on Talk Radio/TV by yours truly ever since, is now finally being validated in the Print Media ...as HILLARY prepares to run for President, unless somehow stopped.
...Even the CLINTONS' own 1990's White House Political Advisor DICK MORRIS was pushed by this Caller to admit on the air.. the refusals of 3 OSAMA Offers.
Talk Radio/TV and the Web = So Fine
...BOB DORNAN's Talk Radio Network Show now airs opposite RUSH LIMBAUGH
...@ 12-3pm Eastern Time / 9am-12pm Pacific Time.

But Clinton was distracted by sex and campaign-finance scandals and his political support was already heavily leveraged to get him through those scandals. If he fought bin Laden more vigorously, the leftwing of the Democratic party might have deserted him which could have cost him the White House. Click. The light just went on in my head. I always thought Clinton was just distracted with the sex scandal stuff to go after terrorism. He was, but it was a very calculated political move to not go after terrorism.

Remember that President Bush didn't go after Bin Laden either until 9/11, despite the fact that Bin Laden almost sunk the USS Cole in November of 2000.

In November of 2000, the slimeball BJ Clinton was still infesting the WH. Bush was not inaugurated until late January of 2001. How would you have expected candidate Bush to do anything about the Cole?

Thanks for the flag. I decided that I definitely must buy this book after I read excerpts of it in the Washington Times last week.

Speculation or inside knowledge?Neither, in the course of Tom Brokaw's interview with Kaye, he let drop that his report would be out mid Sept. or thereabouts.
