WE MUST NEVER FORGET
Posted on 09/11/2003 5:03:26 AM PDT by 7thson
It is September 11 and two years have passed since 9/11. During that time, no other attack has occurred in our nation. Three brutal regimes - the Taliban in Afghanistan, Saddam in Iraq, and Charles Taylor in Liberia - are now history. Hundreds of terrorists have been killed or captured. But there is much more work to be done. What happened September 11, 2001 happened in New York, in Arlington, Virginia, and in a Pennsylvania field. It did not happen in France, or Germany, or in Belgium. But it can happen there because as a captured terrorist stated "they are all infidels!" We cannot appease evil. You cannot make deals with evil. You cannot reason with evil. You can only destroy evil. If you do nothing, if you turn away from it, if you leave it alone and let it grow, it will not thank you. It will bite you hard and its venomous poison will kill you. Pray for those whose lives are lost, snatched away by evil. Pray for those who are left behind, grieving for their loved ones. Pray for those who committed such evil that God can touch their hearts and souls, that somehow their shell will crack and they become aware of the evil they have done. But please, never forget what was done on that day. We - the United States of America - have a solemn obligation to ensure that this act does not go unpunished, to protect a world that refuses our help, to protect innocents now and for the future.
Go to the link below. This is why we are at war. If you feel the need, please pass this on.

Above is what I transmitted via email to friends and family. I wanted it posted here in case others wanted to transmit to their friends and family. The website I obtained from FR some time ago. I look at it every now and then and it always brings tears to my eyes, a sadness in my heart, and a steely determination that we must continue to take the fight to the enemy.
May God bless those murdered on 9/11. May God bless their families and comfort them in their grief. May God bless each and every one of you. May God give President Bush the wisdom and strength to take this fight to the enemy. And may God bless the United States of America.

Driving in to work this morning, I was struck by how similar everything was to that morning two years ago. Like then, the weather is perfect. Deep, blue skies. Mild temperatures, nearly zero humidity. The kind of day you just want to forget about work and go fishing. In fact, that was the same feeling I had two years ago as I drove into work - not realizing, of course, the events that were just a couple hours away. In fact, it is quite possible that the two hijacked planes out of Boston passed right over my head that morning as the Logan flight path often comes over my office building.
Anyway, I think it is important to give credit where credit is due. We have had zero major terrorist incidents on our soil since then. We certainly have the terrorists on the run and Bin Laden has been reduced to making cheesy, grainy videos in some darkened mountain hideaway (if even those are legitimate videos). Saddam is out of power and on the run. The Taliban has been decimated. Most of Al Qaeda has been killed, captured and the rest are not having a very easy time of it. As I write this the Israelis have Arafat the terrorist surrounded and his number may be up as well. Let's hope the Israelis do what must be done this time.
I hope we keep the pedal to the metal on this war against terrorism. We must never let up and never get complacent again.

I was thinking about that video last night. I thought, if it real and true, then how fitting. What is the difference of him hiding in the mountains or being in jail. Granted, he could plan and scheme, but we now have our ear to the ground. Is it not ironic that Bin Laden - a millionaire - has to hide in the mountains, cowering in fear for his life, while we - the ordinairy Janes and Joes of America - still go to work and do our business, fearing nothing. May God bless everyone in the world.

Thanks, I hope you don't mind if I past and link this.
There's an someone in a local board in frequent that needs a good lashing, he thought it would be a good idea to post this thread.
I can't believe some people sometimes.
http://cgi.jacksonville.com/cgi-bin/msgboard/boards/news/view.cgi?section=1471 As with 12/7, we should put this day to rest and go to a park today.

Within this anti-memorial, it should be said that two years ago to this day, we were all New Yorkers, Virginians, and Pennsylvanians. Most of the world - even our wrongly-despised friends in France and Germany - were also Americans. Out of some form of unfathomable hatred against Western Civilization, a group of psuedoreligious terrorists claimed the lives of 3000 men, women, and children that had done nothing to them other than exist as Americans. We have buried the dead, mourned the missing, and etched the names of the lost within the history books.
That said, we should stop mourning this day. We already answered this shot to the head with a hammer to the gut at Afghanistan, and though some - like myself - do not consider this to be appropriate and relevant, we are also dragging ourselves through the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Iraq in the name of the 3,000. What's next? Shall we let ourselves cry and cry again for them year after year? Shall we plunder Iran, Syria, and the rest of the Arab nations for the 3,000 who died under the wrath of nineteen and one Osama? Psychologically, socially, and diplomatically, this isn't healthy.
If you haven't already, let this be the last time you bother with your "never forgets." Let's run in the park. Let's go to a theater. Even as Bush (yes, I will credit him here) touted, let's fly in a plane. Go to work. Go to your kids. Go to your spouse, significant other, or cheat on him or her if you are predisposed to do so! Either way, from 9/11/03 (or 02) to 9/11/infinity, let's return to the American way of life and continue business and leisure as usual!
We shouldn't discard the losses, but neither should we let the losses discard our rhythm! After all, we are the Left amd Right! We are the Christians, Jews, Muslims Hindus, Bhuddists, and Atheists! We are the Caucasian, African, Latin, Arab, and Asian! In short, we are America, and we represent everything on Earth! We shouldn't define ourselves with tragedy, but with resolve, determination, and righteousness.
Oh BTW he has an account here at FR, same name.

Here is the full quote:
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war, is worse."
"A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." -- John Stuart Mill
