Doesn't anyone on FR have any perspective on California politics over the past 50 years?Have been wondering that same thing myself! Make no sense to me at all! It is like they don't want to see the truth!

Now, we all know that the lamestream media is controlled by the Left, particularly in California where it is the official propaganda machine of the Demoncratic Party. So why would they be wringing their hands over McClintock spoiling Schwarzenegger's campaign and BustaMEChA winning? If you really believe that why do all the to California Democrat slimemasters go on TV and talk up McClintock and what a great guy he is and how is going to overtake Arnold? Everytime I see them on Hardball or some other program they are pushing Davis or Bustamante, they spend most of their time talking about McCLintock and how Arnold is cheating him, yada yada.

Some lesser-known talkers (Hugh Hewitt especially, from what I hear on his show) have truly begun to villify McClintock for not being a good obedient Republican and stepping aside for the Big Ahnuld Machine.
L.A. drive-time chatters John and Ken (
http://www.johnandkenshow.com) challenged a caller to go to joinarnold.com/en/agenda and pick out the aspect of Arnold's agenda that he didn't like. The caller seemed to have a hard time, but I didn't:
http://www.joinarnold.com/en/agenda/arnoldsviews.php#F1 The man wants the federal government to pay the extra cost of imprisoning illegal aliens in American prisons?! Give me a break! We should "move on" from Prop. 187, which was approved by an overwhelming voter margin then lynched in the courts by a left-wing judge with NO APPEAL?
It is blatantly clear that a vote for either Bustamante or Schwarzenegger is a vote for alien amnesty, which in turn is a vote for more crime, more illegal drugs, poorer schools, more closed hospitals, more disease, further wreckage for the environment, and the continuation of the rapidly accelerating decline in quality of life for all Californians.
If dimbulbs like Hugh Hewitt, John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou would show a little support for the lone candidate capable of doing some true good for the state, rather than being hypnotized by Ahnuld-mania, McClintock would win by a healthy margin.
And it doesn't matter who the governor of California is; the hatred here for George W. Bush is absolutely incredible, and it would take a miracle for him to win this state in '04. Ahnuld alone won't be able to do it for him. Call me a pessimist if you want, but I actually live here and work amongst these socialist morons in L.A.

"McClintock told Fox News he disagrees with Schwarzenegger on a range of social issues and remains deeply suspicious about his commitment to fiscal reforms and holding the lid on taxes."
Arnold Schwarzenegger's views, in his own words:Pro Gun Control
- "I'm for gun control. I'm a peace-loving guy." (Time magazine cover story, Aug 18, 2003) When interviewed on the issues by Sean Hannity on August 27th, Schwarzenegger admitted that he is for gun control. He said he supported both the Brady Bill and the ban on so-called "assault weapons." He said, "Also I would like to close the loophole of the gun shows." When asked by the Sacramento Bee to detail his positions on gun issues (scroll down), Arnold stated that he supports legislation to ban .50-caliber rifles, force gun buyers to pass a state-defined test in order to purchase a handgun, and require load indicators or magazine safety disconnects on new semiauto handguns.
- Pro Abortion
Schwarzenegger appeared on FoxNews' "Bill O'Reilly" program in May 2001 and said he disagreed with President Bush's pro-life position. "I'm for choice," Schwarzenegger said on the program. "The women should have the choice. The women should decide what they want to do with their bodies. I'm all for that." When interviewed on the issues by Sean Hannity on August 27th, Schwarzenegger admitted again that he is "pro-choice". - Pro Gay Agenda
From Cosmopolitan magazine, "I have no sexual standards in my head that say this is good or this is bad. Homosexual-that only means to me that he enjoys sex with a man and I enjoy sex with a woman. It's all legitimate to me." He also supports gay adoption, despite the fact that both conservative Republicans and moderate Democrats voted by a 61 percent margin for Proposition 22, the Defense of Marriage Initiative, which defined marriage as that between a man and a woman. (Newsmax, 28 July 2003)
When interviewed on the issues by Sean Hannity on August 27th, Schwarzenegger admitted that he is for legalized "domestic partnerships" which would give gay couples the same benefits as marriage. - Pro Big Government Programs
Regarding the passage of Proposition 49, a big government social scheme providing funds for after school programs: "Every California child deserves access to a proven, quality, life-changing afterschool program, and now they will have it. My hope is that, as goes California, so goes the rest of our nation." When interviewed on the issues by Sean Hannity on August 27th, Schwarzenegger said that he believes that social programs should be focused on children. He said, "I think the important thing, again, is that we work on education and really make sure that the kids have the first run at our treasury."
In the same interview with Hannity, Schwarzenegger said that he supports big government programs to buy back leases as a measure to protect the environment. He said, "I think that our state government and our federal government should negotiate to buy back the leases [from the oil companies.]"
- Pro Environmentalist Agenda
When a reporter asked him in early August to detail his positions on the environment, he said "I will fight for the environment. Nothing to worry about." When interviewed on the issues by Sean Hannity on August 27th, Schwarzenegger said he did not support offshore oil drilling. He said, "No, absolutely not. I think that we should stop the oil drilling and I think that our state government and our federal government should negotiate to buy back the leases [from the oil companies.]"
- Pro Clinton/Anti Impeachment
In 1999, Schwarzenegger told George magazine of his bitterness about the frenzy over Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton and the waste of time and energy it represented. "That was another thing I will never forgive the Republican Party for," he said. "I was ashamed to call myself a Republican during that period."
- Soft on Illegal Immigration
In a radio interview with KABC radio host Larry Elder on August 27th, Schwarzenegger said that allowing illegal immigrants to stay in the United States is "the right thing to do." Last year, while campaigning for his Prop. 49 after-school programs initiative, Schwarzenegger...declared in answer to a question from the audience: "I would never stand in the way of any child going to school, whether he or she is here legally or illegally, it does not matter." (Sacramento Bee, 24 August) - Proposition 54
Proposition 54 outlaws the racial boxes Californians are constantly asked to check on state forms. Apply to a state college or enroll a child in a public school, try to get married, seek employment with any city or county, interact in any one of countless ways with the state or its political subdivisions, and you will be asked question about your race. Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger, who previously refused to take a position on the measure, said Saturday he opposed it. Schwarzenegger, speaking to Spanish language station KUVS-TV in Sacramento, said he believes "it is necessary to collect racial data for use in such fields as health and education." "If you take that out, it will be disastrous," he said. FOX News, 08, August
Justin Jones, a spokesman for the Proposition 54 campaign, said he attended an invitation-only event for Schwarzenegger on Saturday at a Sacramento hotel. As the actor was moving through the room shaking hands, Jones said, he approached him in an attempt to make a short pitch for Proposition 54, but was interrupted before he could identify himself or say what side of the issue he was on.
Jones said Schwarzenegger explained that he had studied the measure and determined it was a "no-brainer" to oppose it.
Schwarzenegger went on to say he believed it important that public schools be able to identify minority children to help "bring them up to the starting line. And if the right-wing crazies have a problem with that, so be it." Ventura County Star - SB60
SB60, which Davis signed Friday and touted over the weekend as he campaigned before a Latino audience in Los Angeles, poses grave security threats and undermines existing immigration laws, according to opponents who vowed to place the matter on the March 2004 ballot. The driver's license bill has become a rallying point for both sides in the recall campaign, which increasingly is focusing on immigration and racial issues. Many Republicans charge that Davis' support for the bill, after vetoing similar measures, is a desperate attempt to bolster his support in the Latino community. A Schwarzenegger spokesman said the actor will not support the referendum campaign but will seek other other ways to repeal the legislation. San Francisco Chronicle

I've seen your posts before, Sink. This is really beneath you. Criticizing Arnold's accent is racist.
Or stupid.

Actually, if you take into account his 'Catholic' postings, this is just par for the course.
For the uninitiated, Sinkspur is a resident of the Dallas-Fort worth area of Texas.
Many supporters of Rhino-Arnold reject posts from other than residents of California.
Any bets that they pass on these adhominums of Sinkspur?

Criticizing Arnold's accent is racist. Or stupid.
The question is whether he can overcome the mangling of a syllable or two -- and whether that gives him pause. But at least you attack the argument and not the delivery.
I think Arnold is right in not debating because he is the front runner. That is smart politics.
But it would not surprise me if his english proficiency is a small factor.
Also, Arnold's accent is a result of his country of origin, not his race (he would appear to be white). A xenophobe may have a problem with his accent, but a racist would object merely to his whiteness.

Doesn't anyone on FR have any perspective on California politics over the past 50 years? Yes. I'm from San Diego and I'm not represented a Governor, two Senators, Federal or State Representatives, nor a city counselman. Sure, you bet I'm going to hold out for Conservative principles (NOT).
I don't see McClintock getting more votes than Arnold, if either of the other drops out. Arnold is getting new votes that would not exist, if he were not running and true conservatives are not so dumb that they wouldn't know what their only choices are.
I also don't see any political future for McClintock in the Republican Party if he rides this out to the end. The only good thing about his staying in a little longer is the Dems won't have time to change their campaign to save Davis, once the polls favor Arnold in a two man race.

But they won't and they don't. John and Ken (and Handle in the AM if you get up that early) all acknowledge Tom's superiority. But they are also realists, who understand that a state stupid enough to put the Dims into power and to allow the legislature to spend us into a 3rd world country canNOT understand Tom's points. We are collectively a bunch of idiots. Asking Stephen Hawkings to address a kindergarden class will NOT make them physics professionals.
The reality is that we are so watered down that Tom is too smart for the room. I know many people who say that "all republicans are racists." Lots of them. So if the pig flies, you can't be upset if he doesn't stay up too long.

Post to me, ping me. Otherwise, you're just an old gossip.
I can't vote in California, SC, so just cool your jets.
But I CAN post on FR, which I do, and will continue to.
I really don't care who you folks elect to be your governor.
I don't have to live under him. But, pomposity invites a sharp stick, and I've got a very fine point on my oak branch.

Welcome to the RINO Club re #51! You are among friends here along with some other better known "RINO's" like George Schultz, Hannity, Chris Cox, David Drier, Ann Coulter, Newt, and a host of others!
Believe I would rather be called a "RINO" then be on the same side as some of these McClintock supporters who love to call names! Sure sound like Clintonites to me! Maybe I am going to buy into Consort's calling them "Clinton Conservatives" -- they spin/call names just like a Clintonite!
