The US Army has launched the bidding process for two Iraqi oil contracts worth up to US $1 billion, which will replace a deal awarded to Halliburton in March, according to reports.
The US Army Corps of Engineers said it would award one contract for fields in northern Iraq and another for southern fields, each worth up to $500 million. The deal will replace a hotly-disputed contract handed out to Halliburton. The Army came under pressure after awarding the deal directly to Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR) without offering the work to the market.
The new 'requests for proposals' were put out on the Internet. The contracts run for 2 years, with three 1-year options extending to a maximum 60 months.
The workload includes extinguishing oil well fires, environmental assessments and cleanups, engineering design and construction, pipeline and refinery maintenance, procurement and importation of fuel, distribution of fuel products in Iraq and technical assistance.

Now maybe Lukoil, ElfTotal and all the other wannabes can show the world what they can do in the oil patch.

The Democrats will NEVER publish this news. It goes against their "All for Halliburton" accusations on the war.

Daschle must be deeply saddened that this coup cannot get widespread attention from the media.

Let me guess - it probably goes to Carol Mosley Braun's half sisters husbands inept/corrupt business in France. After the full award it goes BK & you(the taxpayer-sucker) pays for it.

The act by the nine 'RAT Trolls last night was shameless. They really

Howard Dean

Howard Dean says he's running for President, and on paper he's quite a candidate.
He's the longest-serving Democratic governor. He signed the first law in the country to allow gay unions. And, he's got the endorsement of America's favorite president-that-isn't: Martin Sheen.
In real life, most Americans would pass Howard Dean on the street without a second glance. Can a candidate with just about zero national name-recognition actually make a viable run for the nation's highest office? Tonight, Howard Dean, the invisible candidate. |

"Now maybe Lukoil, ElfTotal and all the other wannabes can show the world what they can do in the oil patch." Are you kidding? The libs (and their willing handmaidens in the media) will complain when the oilfield services contracts aren't awarded to the New York Times, Disney Corp or, failing that, a minority company...
It's O.K. for leftists supporters to be "big business" and make "obscene profits". It's for the chil'run, y'know...

Maybe they can lobby for that little Kennedy whelp to get the contract. He's always whining about energy.
If only he could harness the power in Ted's drinking arm...he'd be close to perpetual motion.

The workload includes extinguishing oil well fires, environmental assessments and cleanups, engineering design and construction, pipeline and refinery maintenance, procurement and importation of fuel, distribution of fuel products in Iraq and technical assistance. Whoever bids on the work--and should one of them be awarded the contract--there will have to be a project manager.
We built a house for the project manager of Texaco's billion-dollar coal gassification plant in Baton Rouge twenty years ago, and he would be out testing the joints between pyramid blocks with a razor blade.
May the "winners" of this pair of contracts live in interesting times, with overruns, late fees, penalties, and, of course, interest.
Should have left it to the proven pros. Now they'll have to perform to spec, enforced by this guy:

Is there anyone else that can handle this type of work? qualified I should say.
