I wonder if this means that His Holiness will comment, or if it will be some random Jesuit who is a member of a consulting committee to the Pontifical Council on Social Communications or if a tourist snapping photos in St. Peter's Square will be the source.
Either way, the mainstream media will still say that it is the "Vatican's" comment.

VATICAN THUMBS UP ON MEL GIBSON'S CHRIST MOVIE
**World Exclusive**
An influential Vatican cardinal is about to endorse Mel Gibson's PASSION, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
The controversial Mel Gibson-directed drama about the last 12 hours of the life of Jesus Christ will be praised -- unconditionally -- by Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, the prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy, who speaks for the Vatican on issues of faith.
The endorsement may pit the Vatican against the Anti-Defamation League, which expressed concerns that scenes depicting Jesus' crucifixion at the hands of Jews and others will fuel anti-Semitism.
Gibsons artistic choices make the film faithful to the meaning of the Gospels, as understood by the Church, says Cardinal Hoyos in an interview set for release in Italy.

Is he going to give it a "3 post-hole digger hats" up?

I'm with Mel. I hear it's a very moving picture.
The leftist socialists hate it. Someone might get the Christian idea, and ruin the whole anti-Christ ageda and it's religion of PC - the "tolerance" of all sin.

Considering the pope spoke well of "Jesus Christ, Superstar," I can't see his getting on Mel's "Passion." With any luck, this "influential Vatican cardinal" can convince Mel to leave in the scriptural line about "His blood be on us and on our children."

Looks like it is a rave review!

depicting Jesus' crucifixion at the hands of Jews and others will fuel anti-Semitism. The Jews didn't do it. Some handed Jesus over to the Romans - who had him crusified. If people actually take the time to watch the movie, they'll see it's not anti-semetic at all. Jesus himself was Jewish!

PS...
When this movie finally hits the market, it's going to be a HUGE success. Because the left wing minions have made such a big deal out of it, people will rush to buy it to see what it is! LOL.
I can't WAIT to buy this movie!!!

I agree, before the publicity this was probably a 50-60 million dollar box office movie.
Now I am thinking maybe 75-90 million..

60 million Catholics in the US alone. Release date: Easter.
If only 10% see the film, @ 8.50$ a pop, that's half a Billion Dollars.
