[history]
A peaceful protest will be held
Thursday, September 11 at the Clearwater Courthouse.
Can't go? How can you help anyway? I'm glad you asked!
"The Schindlers are about to lose their daughter because no one
wants to put a teaspoon of Jell-O to her mouth."
-- Christopher A. Ferrara, Esq.
Remember Miracle on 34th Street? Everyone always cheers when those postal employees start piling on the mail. Well let's go for something similar. It may not change the judge's mind, but it will make a definite statement to the media. I hesitated to start this because of Homeland Security concerns. Can't you just see some wild-eyed liberal screaming "SUSPICIOUS POWDER"? Think of the feeding frenzy...even though the motives in sending it were pure. So here's what I've come up with: Mail your newly purchased, sealed box of "gelatin" -- we all know the brand ;-) -- along with your letter of outrage to Judge Greer. Please freepmail/e-mail for the address. Then during the protest, signs will be available stating why there are boxes full of Jell, I mean gelatin, there. She can show them to the media, give the letters to Judge Greer and Felos (be sure to send them each a letter or two copies of the same generic letter). THEN she can donate the boxes of gelatin in Terri's name to a food pantry to be chosen by the Schindler family! Everyone wins!
It's very late and I'm very tired, so forgive me if I have rambled...and if my image doesn't load. That has nothing to do with fatigue and everything to do with memory lapse. If it doesn't load, use the link for the .pdf file. It takes a while, but I hope you'll be able to use it.
We could really use 2 or 3 Freepers to help out on-site. I'm going to try to get down there, but I can't guarantee anything.

But we all know that the media tends to cover the "stunts" more than real news. You have made an excellent point here. Forgive me for not understanding the reasons for your approach previously.

I'm making a big pot of sauce with pork ribs and chicken simmering in it.
A fresh loaf of semolina bread from Marios (plus an extra loaf just for dipping as it cooks.)
The house smells like heaven!

Kimmie, I think floriduh voter has a good point concerning hazmat. The powers that be in Florida can twist anything to their advantage (or they will at least try). I would not want to see anyone get in trouble. We can still keep spreading the word and perhaps come up with something else.....and Kimmie, if there is a FReeper of the year award, I nominate you!!!!

But the jello angle is just so good I still think we could use it someway that didn't require mailing boxes of it. I think the wagons or wheelbarrows of it at the protest outside the courthouse is a great attention-getter. Perhaps we could set up a paypal account for donations for the organizers down in Florida, where they could buy it and bring it to the protest. Then it could be donated to food pantries. Problem is, we are so short of time...
Ideas, anyone?

You're very kind.
Everyone, if you don't feel comfortable with sending, I'll understand. You do have my permission to freely use the .pdf file I listed earlier instead. It's free for use to anyone supporting the Schindlers.

The mailings are to be addressed to Pam Hennessey. She is a willing recipient of these mailings and isn't hostile to the 'cause'.
How does this effort differ from sending food items in care packages to the troops or to a child away at college?

I'll second that, unless someone beats me to it!

Thanks for the ping Kimmie!
Shoot me some addresses and I'll see if I can send some care packages. J*ll*, isn't the only brand of gelatin dessert. There's Royal Gelatin, and a couple of other brands that come from Mexico.
A poster here had a great suggestion for using black shoe polish with the sponge applicator to make posters. Easy to control and dries quickly.
RonDog, maybe you could help these folks out with suggestions on talking with the media, and anything else you can think of. This is a worthwhile cause, and you have a lot of experience in FReeping :)

Do you have someone who can part with some needed dollars until we can get the money to you? ... it would be QUICKER if you had someone(s) who could BUY the stuff and have it on hand, even the day BEFORE the hearing is set.Do you have 99 cent stores in Fla? I was there doing grocery shopping (lol!), and they have all kinds of stuff, including off brands of gelatin for 2x99 cents. It doesn't have to be the name brand, does it?
