Free Republic's 9-11 100 Hours of Remembrance
Free Republic | 9/6/03 | Free Republic

Posted on 09/06/2003 1:45:49 AM PDT by jriemer

It’s 4:46am September 6.

Its a little more than 100 hours from the Second Anniversary of Start the World Trade Center Attack and the subsequent Strike on the Pentagon and the Crash in Pennsylvania. 100 hours seems to be a long time; however, it is barely enough to reflect and remember all those who perished on the ground and in the air. Each one of the victims has a story, a life, that if retold would take more than 100 hours to appreciate the richness of their stay on this earth before it was snatched away.

Since 911, there has been more sacrifice. More have taken from this earth – this time not in tragedy but in a quest for justice and the expansion of freedom. They were not helpless victims but Heroes of liberation for the Afghanis and Iraqis and protectors of our domestic security.

We would hope that you would take the time and reflect on the lives of those who died on 9-11 and those who have sacrificed their all since that day in these next 100 hours. Please contribute a post of reflection, a prayer, a memorial, a picture or even just a ping to your friends to let them know that 9-11 has not been ignored this year.

Never forget…

angst, hand wringing, and feeling sorry for ourselves

I don't get that feeling from any of this at all.

I use to look forward to my birthday. It's on the ninth, but now there isn't any joy, just unutterable sadness everywhere. As 9-11 approaches it becomes more and more depressing and each year seems to make it worse.

To the children born during the week of and on 9-11 my heart goes out to them.

Thanks Norm, I was born in New York and it will always have a special place in my heart. That attack was an attack on ALL of us!!!!!

I will NEVER FORGET, and will be here on the 11th to remember all the brave souls who died on that awful day.

Most of the politicians in Washington have forgotten, I still remember those hippocrites standing on the steps of the Capitol singing God Bless America.......now they can only bash our President because it's election time again.

This song is dedicated to all those who were taken from us, on September 11, 2001.

Use the melody to "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"

“September Eleventh Remembered”

New York is a state with a history that’s great
But fate, a great history can alter
The skyline was torn in the city one morn’
By fanatics hell-bent to assault her
The Trade Center Towers stood as symbols of power
But that day they were doomed for destruction
And filled as they were, with civilians for sure
They were targets for terrorist actions

When the first aircraft struck the North tower, it shook
And alarm bells all over were ringin’
In the building folks knew, there’d be rescue crews
And were certain that help, they’d be bringin’
While some ran off scared, others looked to the air
And discovered their peril had doubled
When the second plane hit, they all had to admit
It was clear they were deeply in trouble

Emergency teams from Manhattan to Queens
Spread word of the high-rise disaster
The police and the rescue-recovery crews
If they flew, couldn’t get there much faster
At the mountainous towers, the men climbed for an hour
To do battle with a fiery dragon
But emergency crews in the buildings soon knew
It was more than the beast they were battlin’

After the climb through the smoke and the grime
Came the radio calls of confusion
Then just after ten, the South Tower caved in
With a deafening roar of implosion
At half past ten, the North Tower fell in
Sending thousands of souls to their maker
The dust clouds spread, like a blanket of dread
‘Til each heart in the city was breakin’

When mountains and prayers are collapsed in despair
It leaves families at home disbelievin’
They prayed by their phones, but were never alone
For the country all shared their grievin’
In the Towers debris, searchers fell on their knees
As they dug up an ash-covered helmet
The words that were prayed by the chaplain that day
Were to everyone there, overwhelmin’

“There’s no greater love that a man hath to show
Than to lay down his own life for innocent souls
Into this Mosaic of Freedom is laid
This precious last piece of an Angels Brigade”

New York is a state with a history that’s great
But with fate, her great history was altered
On September Eleventh the heavens were filled
With the souls of her dearly departed

Beautiful Barbara Olson

Beautiful Barbra Olson
two years ago you went to heaven
The horror of that day
I can not write, but Barbara
dear heart, I miss you terribly!

Many candles were lit for you
many tears were shed for you
today my heart weeps for you
today my heart weeps
for your family, for the
families whose members
never came home.

Brave Lady Barbara,
today you wear a crown
of freedom and glory
you walk on jeweled streets
in rich sweet flower gardens
You Barbara, know no pain.

You fought your good fight
calling Ted from the plane
you did walk the last mile
with bravery and determination
just as you walked through life.

Now dear heart
your beautifful face
will always be beautiful
your laughter always
like chimes
We take peace
in knowing you're safe
and nothing will harm
you again.
You're safe in the
arms of Jesus.

"Michele Reed, 26, Ringoes, N.J., USA Aon Corp. Confirmed dead, World Trade Center, at/in building "

The twin daughter of a co-worker. Her sister was working in the other tower and escaped unhurt. May God bless her soul, and the soul of all those who lost their lives that day.

We Will Never Forget
