Long has the gun been there to protect the lives of innocent people all over the world, to put an end to dictatorships, and provide with recreation :). But as long as there has been the gun there have also been people that want it to be taken away from public hands, leaving us defenseless against our government, as well as common criminals (although the two are becoming more and more similar).
Although i am only a freshman in high school in new york city, and i can't own my own firearms yet, my step-father owns several, and i have been to shooting ranges before. I know that they are safe if used responsibly and (obviously) not criminally. I have looked at statistics which show the leading causes of death in the U.S. ( http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/lcod.htm ) and guns in any use are not on it. Liberals don't know what they're talking about...and whenever they get questioned or are disagreed with, they hide behind rumors about G.W. and recall things in history that somehow explain my behavior and what race i need to be nicer to because of it.
Come on! It's in the constitution for crying out loud! And...i just lost my train of thought for a second and forgot what how i was going to conclude. So let this be it: Don't get rid of guns;get rid of liberals!

Yes and no.
There are the liberal leaders like Hitlary and Schumer (sorry you live in NY, pal) and other gun grabber hypocrites like those at HCI/Brady and VPC. They do know what they're talking about: complete civiailian disarmament. What they have planned for us that makes it so important to disarm us, I don't know and don't intend to find out.
On the other hand there are the clueless liberal sheeple, who merely parrot group-think concept spoon-fed to them from the leaders, and they are the ones who lack any comprhension of the facts of the situation. The latter, unfortunately, number so many that the outcomes of major elections are swayed by their participation.
It's good to know that some young folks get the importance of our rights and our constitution.

I spent the next 10 years or so fighting with the #%^&*()!! stupid thing because the barrel was loose and I tried to put target sights on it, which I never could get aligned right. If I'd had somebody to hand me a clue, I could have saved myself a lot of head-banging... but, what the hell. I was so happy when I traded out of that gun, I practically... oh, never mind.
Now, of course, I own so many handguns I've lost count - and I've learned how to buy something that will shoot, right out off the shelf - and it never even crossed my mind that there was some sort of problem with a 16-year-old being able to walk into a gun store and buy a gun (other than that he might end up buying a piece of junk that would drive him nuts, of curse...). But, lo and behold... look what happened - all of a sudden, now it's illegal for someone like me, at age 16, to buy a handgun - all because somebody *ELSE* - some stupid, subhuman, inner-city piece of schumer - thinks handguns are there for him/her/it to use on another human.
I'm sorry, but the thought of using my handgun on another human, at age 16, never even *occurred* to me. For pete's sake, I couldn't even hit an apple with the damned thing, with the sights as screwed up as they were. In fact... I used to fantasize about splitting my despicable old bat of an English teacher's head open with an axe - even to the point that I and my jerky friends used to draw cartoons of the old bag with an axe buried in her head - but the thought of actually *doing* it, much less taking one of my various guns to school and *shooting* her, never even occurred to me. Using a gun on another human was something you did to somebody who broke into your house or attacked you, as the local not-too-bright furnace repairman almost found out the hard way, when I found him in the basement, having come in to the house unannounced. But even then, he never saw the gun, which I (at age 16, mind you) kept concealed under my bathrobe (Okay, so I got out of the shower when I heard a noise; so what...).
Now, you're telling me, they've passed a *FEDERAL LAW* which would have prohibited me from buying that first handgun?
Maybe that law would have saved me all the grief I went through trying to fix the stupid piece of schumer... but all it's really accomplished, at this point, is to make me hate Lieberals, Progressives, Demonrats, whatever - far, *far* more than I disliked my useless Senior English teacher.
And... in contrast with the fantasies I had about her, which I and my cohorts really thought were laughable - my intentions toward the Left are deadly serious... The Lieberal/"Progressive"/Demonrat filth that have inflicted this evil Socialist legislation on us had better hope that we situation never arrives that would enable people like me to indulge our fantasies of retribution upon them, who have turned what had theretofore been only a hobby and a recreation, into a desperate political struggle... As far as I'm concerned, with the amount of time that I've been forced to expend just to defend my ability to continue to pursue what has never been anything more than a hobby, the Left has stolen my life from me - and I will not hesitate one instant to steal theirs in return, at the first suitable opportunity.
