Let Senator Whitmire Know Your Thoughts Today!
Together We Can Make a Difference!
Fellow Democrats,
Whether you support or oppose Sen. Whitmire's decision to discontinue involvement in the quorum-busting strategy, it is important that you let Sen. Whitmire know your thoughts TODAY. Sen. Whitmire says that his constituents want him to return to Austin to fight the redistricting battle there, rather than continuing to absent himself from the legislature. Whether you agree or disagree with Sen. Whitmire's return to Texas, please let him him know TODAY what your and other voters in your precinct want him to do. You may contact him via e-mail at john.whitmire@senate.state.tx.us or by telephone at (512) 463-0115 or (713) 864-8701.
Also, whatever opinion you hold in this situation, it is incredibly important that we not villify one another. People who believe Sen. Whitmire is doing the wrong thing, must understand that villification will not help anything and will ultimately weaken the Democratic Party. Supporters of Sen. Whitmire and his decision need to understand that there are many, many people who are deeply disappointed by this turn of events and their legitimate angst should not be condemned, as that, too, will only weaken the Democratic party. We must find a way to come together, and vitriolic recriminations will only play directly into the hands of Tom DeLay!
Regards,
Gerry Birnberg, Chair, Harris County Democratic Party

This whole mess is unbelievably asinine!
One Democrat wants to come back to work to do what he's paid to do when he should have been doing it all the time, the Democrats don't want him to, and the Chairman of the Democratic Party is afraid that some ill feelings are going to be generated!
Good grief!

Aw, let them stay in New Mexico. It will cost them a pretty penny and we can make life miserable for them especially during the New Mexico winters. HE HE

Gerry Birnberg, it's all so simple. To the victors belong the spoils! The majority rules. You Democrats have lost Texas and now you must pay the price! If you think 2002 was bad for your party wait until you see what we do to you in 2004. If I were you folks, I'd get my butt back to Austin tomorrow! And, if you don't sink yourselves, your national leaders will do the job for you. Is there any Democrat out there that will protect the American people? Bill & Hillary Clinton didn't and Howard Dean sure won't. What a bunch of losers. You all need a reality check!
To: Eaker
Keep them out of Texas. I want to see how long it takes for them to starve to death.

I just emailed Whitmire to congratulate him on being intelligent. I requested they keep up the good fight, and stay away from Austin. (Watching them run around like drugged rats is just way too funny. "Now what are we gonna do?")

A boycott does't do any good unless a sufficient number stay away. Democrats must be products of the public school math system.

I think it's funny. They're blaming everyone else for making them spend their own money and staying away from their families.
Heck, the Republicans are being very kind, considering. They're telling them "C'mon back and vote! Let's get to work!" LOL!

Thanks for the ping Meek......my contribution to the Harris County Dims:
Subject: Running Away To Whom it May Concern,
Of course Senator Whitmire should get back to work. That's what he was sent to Austin for, duh. If the Democrats are going down in Texas, he's just prolonging the agony in any case.
Maybe the Democrats in Texas should get a clue. The utopian dreamers in the media are no longer believed by the majority of Texans. Hence the social-isms that join the Democrats and the mainstream media at the hip aren't playing well in the great state of Texas anymore.
Wasn't it Abe Lincoln who coined the phrase about not being able to fool all the people all the time. If Democrats are to have any chance at viability in Texas, and the rest of the country for that matter, they may want to consider respecting those that, in the words of that great philosopher Phil Gramm, "are pulling the wagon".
Regards and good luck; you're gonna need it.
